OK, so last week my coworkers gave me a baby shower. 27 ladies went in together and got me a Visa gift card. Do I need to send each of them a personalized thank you card or do you think a mass email would be okay? I used the gift card to purchase the high chair and stroller I wanted so should I mention that in my thank you card/email? I'm just trying to figure out how to word it...
I don't want to seem lazy, but the mass email would be so much easier for me since I'm dealing with a horrible case of carpal tunnel. What would you ladies do?? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks in advance!!
Re: Baby shower thank you card etiquette. Please help!
I'm in a similar situation-- I'm toying with the idea of writing one thank you card and posting it in the work kitchen where everyone can see it. Not sure if that's the proper etiquette, but I think it would be acceptable, especially with your carpal tunnel! I didn't have anywhere close to 27 gifters though, I think it was more like 15, so I still may write individual notes.
FWIW, with my work, I wrote one Thank You card (I bought an actual Thank You card, not the note) and gave it to my boss to pass around.
It was really cute - "Thank you from the bottom of my butt." "Because my butt is way bigger than my heart right now."
BUT - I also had this at showers, where 5-7 people would go in on a big gift. I broke them up and wrote individual cards. But writing 20+ cards is a LOT for one gift, LOL.

My coworkers just had a little get together for me today. They all chipped in and gave me cash. I am going to put a thank you card in our lounge and maybe bring in a little treat like cookies or donuts.
On Thursday some of the girls are taking me out. If I get individual gifts I will write them an individual thank you.
In my office, one thank you card is written, and then you paper clip a list of people it should be seen by to it. Then you start at the top, and we cross our name off the list and give it to the next person. I think this is totally acceptable, and has never offended anyone!
This is what I would do as well.
I would write one thank you card and mention what you purchased with the gift card. People like to know what their money is being used for, even if it is just diapers. You might even want to take a picture of the items and put that in the card. Then people can Ohh and Ahh over how cute it is.
I wouldn't do a mass e-mail - that seems lazy to me, but maybe after giving a thank you card you could write an individual e-mail to each person (Copy/Paste the same text).
Thanks everyone so much. I think it's a great idea to bring in a thank you card and post in the lounge with a treat but the ladies are from 4 different departments. I work at a huge military boarding school and the ladies that contributed to the gift card are from the academic dept, the military dept, the administration dept, and supply dept. So I really don't see most of them on a daily basis and I don't even know where their lounges are (other than the academic dept. lounge because that's where I work). Oh, and then there is the dining hall personnel as well...oh man, I have a headache.
I think I'm just going to send a mass email although it may seem a little impersonal. Hopefully they understand!
Thanks again everyone for the advice!!
Ok, that changes things quite a bit. E-mail would be fine then, but maybe invite them to your office/lounge for treats on a specific day if they can make it????

Now that's a great idea!! I will do that!! Thanks!!
I would do this too.
ETA Sorry, didn't see your response! In that case, yeah, I think an emailed thank you (maybe take and include a couple of pictures of the high chair and stroller so they can ooh and ahh over what you bought??) and treats in your office would be great!
This is what I'm doing, and I'll send out an email to everyone as well, both thanking them and telling them there is a card in the kitchen. I've thought about bringing in treats as a Thank You too, but given that I can't really have sweets right now and I'm tired/lazy, I will probably not do that.
