I wash all my pump parts out with soap and hot water after each use but for some reason they still smell like sour milk. How could this be? How do you clean yours?
I can't remember are you working? I don't wash mine at work. I was reading on the breastfeeding board that a lot of the girls just stick them in a piece of tupperware in their little cooler and stick them in the fridge with their milk. Saves time. I just wipe mine off and do that. But that's not you question. I wash mine every night and then at some point over the weekend I boil everything.
I was mine the same as you, I just don't ever sniff them haha. I don't think they smell though. I have 2 sets of parts so that they dry out well each day. And like pp said, while at work I stick them in a ziploc bag and put them in the fridge and just wash them when I'm home. I don't have time to wash them there and since I pump in the bathroom I don't think there is any clean area to leave them out to dry. If I have room before runnin the dishwasher I will throw them in also - works out to like once a week/10 days. I only boiled them pre-elizabeth and when I had thrush with her.
What pump do you have? A PISA? If so - make sure you take it all apart - the yellow things, membranes, etc. and clean in that way. You can try putting in the dishwasher. I SAH and EP, and I keep mine in the fridge all day. I wash everything (take it all apart) right before bed, but other than that I just keep putting it all back in the fridge.

Thanks girls! I had never heard of putting your pump in the fridge so that you don't have to wash them right away! Such a good idea! Wish I had known that with T. I have a Hygeia Pump. I do take all the parts apart but I wash it just using my fingers. I've been wanting to get some sort of little scruby brush that would fit into the tiny crevices. I will try the boiling once a week thing too! Maybe that will help!
