F/U to VDay plans

I mentioned that I wanted to try a fun after dinner drink for tonight.  Ideas?

Nothing crazy, just something a little out of the ordinary.

  • What type of liquor do you have at home? What are you in the mood for?

A French 75 is classic and tasty, and easy to make - it has gin, champagne, and lemon.

I also really like moscow mules - those have vodka, lime, and ginger beer (real ginger beer, not ginger ale, but you can find that fairly easily).

  • Have you thought about St. Germain? It's a little on the sweeter side, and mixes well with a lot of stuff (from champagne to gin). I did a post about it on my cooking blog a while ago and I think cheekywife did, too--we used one of her recipes. The St. Germain website also has a bunch of cocktail recipes.

  • Cheeky's homemade irish cream is awesome.  I am not a big Bailey's fan but the homemade version over ice or in coffee is great.

    I love St. Germain!

  • tonight we're going to have sparkling wine + ginger liqueur + squirt of lime.

I really love St. Germain too, though.

  • If you like sweet, DH as been making key lime martinis that are out of this world. Vanilla vodka, Ke Ke key lime liquor and Liquor 43.  Also very dessert like is a chocolate martini - Godiva liquor and vanilla vodka (you can also add creme de cacao and/or half and half). We swirl chocolate syrup around the glass first.
