I suppose this is the update to when my midwife called last Thursday and then I couldn't get in touch with her on Thursday or Friday. We had an ultrasound on Friday, and there was a wiggly baby with a good heartbeat and it was such a relief. I pretty much figured that it couldn't be bad because she hadn't called back.
My midwife called this evening. Turns out the lab work she wanted to discuss involves the anti-e antibody. She has no idea how I got it (she says blood transfusions and previous pregnancies are usually involved- I've had neither), but since there's a chance that my baby will have the e antigen and so my body could reject the baby. So, I'll be having monthly (rather than the usual every-six-weeks) appointments with the midwife and monthly appointments with the MFM too.
And then she added "Oh, your ultrasound report also shows a retrochorionic hemorrhage and ovarian cysts, but don't worry about those." After what she had already told me, that didn't really seem so bad.
Anyone else happen to have this antigen or know anything about it? Anyone else have who is not having multiples headed to the MFM?
Re: Dr called re:blood; anyone else have weird antibodies?
I have not heard of anything like this happening, but I am sending thought and prayers to you and your LO!
I have to go to the MFM and I am not having multiples, I have a blood clotting disorder so I have to give myself a shot of blood thinner everyday until I am 36 weeks and then its 2 x a day until delivery. I just moved from Indiana to Las Vegas so I have to start the entire testing process again which freaks me out because I have yet to start the injections because I haven't see the MFM here yet.
Thanks so much for your kind words.
Sending some Valentine's love to y'all and your babies.
