Pregnant after IF

Crazy Headaches

Everyday for the past week I have been getting the most insane headaches. They come and go through out the day, but are at their worst in the evening. I am not sure if this is pregnancy related or not, but not being able to take Aspirin is becoming a real problem. I have never been one to get a lot of headaches, so this is really throwing me off my game.

So far I have no symptoms other than feeling tired all the time, and if they are pregnancy related, these headaches. Anyone else have early pregnancy headaches like this?

Re: Crazy Headaches

  • Congrats again on your BFP!! :)

Yes, I have been getting awful headaches.  Prior to pregnancy I suffered from headaches, but with pregnancy they seem to be more frequent and stronger.  I am 12 weeks today and they don't seem to be fading at all.  My family Dr. said they should start to subside in the next couple of weeks.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.

  • So happy to see you on here. I also had god awful headaches which have abated but not gone completely.  The only thing that helped were weekly acu sessions, which gave me some relief for a few days.

  • I had terrible headaches for the beginning of my pregnancy.  Generally I had a headache every day.  I also had migraines too.  Tylenol was a constant staple for me, but many times did not help.  I saw an acupuncturist and it helped with the headache/migraine I had that day, but it always returned.  I was actually considering seeing a chiropractor to see if it gave me any relief.

Finally around week 20-22 the headaches went away.

I hope yours go away soon.  My only suggestions are lots and lots of water, tylenol, maybe a little caffeine, and sitting in a dark room with an ice pack.  Feel better soon!

  • I started having terrible headaches about 10 weeks and am still having them. Mine start late afternoon and last overnight. I am very prone to migraines pre-pregnancy and finally asked my dr last week about them. She told me to try taking a shot of coffee to see if a little caffeine would help. She said if they got really bad she could prescribe something, but of course I'm avoiding that if at all possible. At this point, I try to not even take Tylenol since it barely takes the edge off anyways. Hope you feel better! But it's totally worth it, huh?? :)

It is totally worth it. I just keep trying to remind myself it will be worth it in the end. And you are right with the Tylenol, it barely touches the pain.

  • I suffered from frequent migraines pre-pregnancy and have had some of my worst ones while pregnant.  To me that haven't gone away yet... I have had 2 in the last week.  They even gave me tylenol 3 but that doesn't help either... all that really does sometimes is knock me out so I can sleep, but the morning comes and headache is still there.  I do think going to the chiropractor helps, but I go weekly and still get some doozies.  I love being pregnant but imitrex is the one thing I really miss!

  • Sometimes I get relief by having a cold Coke with tylenol - it doesn't always work, but it's worth a try. I don't know if you are taking an anti-nausea medication, but headaches are a common side effect of Zofran, and I think the Zofran definitely exacerbated if not caused mine. A head/neck massage can also really help. I hope you start feeling better soon - headaches suck!

  • When I asked my Drs about constant headaches they told me it's a normal side effect of pregnancy. They told me I can take Tylenol, which doesn't always help. They have gotten better and less frequent when I reached 2nd trimester!

  • So sorry you are going through this.  I had really bad headaches til about 12 weeks.  Try drinking  a lot of water and maybe a little coffee.  It seemed to work for me.
