Those foam floor squares...

that fit together like puzzle pieces and make a nice play area.  Do you think they are bad for baby?  As in has phalates or other yucky stuff in them?

Re: Those foam floor squares...

  • i think it depends what kind you get and where you get them. i saw some "exercise" mats that were phalate free, then i saw some kids' mats that weren't. i guess if you look hard enough you could probably find them:)

  • I was just thinking about those things earlier today & tried to look them up but couldn't find anything. We need something as DD is so mobile. We have wood floors, so I guess that's better than tile but it still would be nice.

  • On another board that I'm on, a lot of the mom's complained about their dc eating the foam....especially if they had the foam blocks with letters.  We have hardwood floors and we just always put her on a blanket--until she started to crawl and now she has free reign.

  • ditto teacher2b - I think anything foam is supposed to be for ages 2 and up because of how easy it is to bite off a nice piece and potentially choke on it.

But to answer your question - There is phalate free foam but whether or not any one has made those floor pieces with it, I don't know.
