Trying to Get Pregnant

kinda nifty study on hpt results for each dpo..

https://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=1

I know we have a chart on this already on this board, but this was interesting as well. It's not a highly controlled study as results were submitted by this website's members, but the sample size is >1700 pregnant women. I just thought it was kinda neat to look at. You can click on which dpo you are considering testing on, and see how many got which result.

Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow and whatever you are doing I hope you have a great day!!

Re: kinda nifty study on hpt results for each dpo..

  • Ok, I'm not even going to look further than the first page b/c there is NO way 12.5% of women got some sort of + on 1 dpo. It's not possible, implantation has not even taken place. That study is seriously flawed.

  • How can someone get a positive 1DPO? That makes no sense to me at all....
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Yea, I have to agree with PP's.

How can you get a BFP at 1DPO?

    Weird.

  • I'm not defending the correct-ness of the results, but they did put this disclaimer:

NOTE: Positive pregnancy test results are so highly uncommon for any day prior to 6 days past ovulation that they really should not be considered in this data - Any positive test result this early is usually due to a miscalculation of when ovulation occured and thus does not accurately represent the true day past ovulation. Most home pregnancy tests measure the amount of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in the urine, it is only once the fertilized egg implants (around 6-12 days after ovulation), that the developing placenta begins producing hCG.

I think it's neat to see what regular non-scientist women who were ttc came up with, right or wrong, on the day they thought they were on. Kinda like us?

  • yeah, I agree, you have to be more than a non-scientist to think you got a + 1dpo, you have to be really special.

  • I'd rather stick to the study based on FF charts.. many women have no clue how many DPO they really are.

    Highly uncommon? Try highly impossible.

I think it is crap that anyone would put this out at all. It's worthless crap and simply feeds ignorance. Anyone that has taken a jr high science class should know that these are horrible methods of obtaining any kind of sample.

Thank you for putting a stop to feeding ignorance. I am sure most people here know that it is highly improbable that you can get a positive at 1 dpo but just in case someone did think you could they are lucky you are here to put a stop to it. That was a close one.

It is not improbable. It is impossible.

Implantation will not, ever, happen the day after the egg is released. It takes longer than that for sperm to meet egg, and for the zygote to divide until it can implant. If someone is getting a positive test one day after "ovulation", they do not know what ovulation means and when it took place during the cycle in question.

    Suggesting otherwise is ignorant.

BFP #1 9/7/12. Loved for a month, and lost 10/11/12.

  • I'm not even going to look at that "study" because they included 1 dpo etc.  If the company put that disclaimer and knows it is impossible to get results that early why include it in their "study"?

  • Sorry guys! I didn't mean to post information that could be misleading! I guess I figured that obviously, anyone reporting in the first week was just wrong and the rest was interesting, with shades of positives and all that. It really is too bad they included the respondents who reported in the first week. Oh well. :-/
