Pregnant after IF

incorrect dating? is it possible with IUI and ovidrel?

I got my BFP 13dpo with a beta of 55.8, 3 days later on 16dpo my beta was 99, 3 days after that on 19dpo my beta was 205, and then today 23dpo my beta was 979.

Both the doctor and the nurse are baffled and both said it's either one of two things - either everything is normal and the pregnancy just implanted later than they thought since the numbers seem to be about 3 or so days behind or its ectopic.

How likely is it that the dates are wrong, especially since it was an IUI with clomid and ovidrel?  Is it even possible?  Anyone else have numbers like this?

  • I didn't have numbers similar to yours, but my dating was a little off (likely implanted later).  I had an IUI on 11/19, based on all of my u/s measurements, I conceived on 11/21.  So it is possible that you are a couple days less pregnant than you think.

  • I'm not sure what they think the problem is. Your betas seem to be rising at a decent rate, if maybe a teensy bit slow. Congrats!

  • Implantation typically occurs anywhere from 6-10 dpo, sometimes later (regardless of whether conception was from IUI, IVF, or none of the above).  Based on my research, the "averages" seem to assume implantation happens at around 8 dpo.  It's entirely possible you just implanted on the late side and therefore are measuring below "average".

This.  My experience with both pregnancies has been that my nurse and RE are always cautious with betas and seem to imply the sky is falling when all is well.  Good luck!

  • I think those numbers sound quite normal actually.  Implantation can vary within a few days so it's likely that you just had a late start.  I would not start to worry yet.  Congrats!!
