Pregnant ladies, come in!

Have you thought about strollers yet? Are you getting a double?

I had this big elaborate plan to buy a nice umbrella stroller and baby wear when I could and use two strollers (the umbrella and our travel system) when out with DH. I came up with this plan because I couldn't find a stroller I liked under $250 (the 2U2 board highly reccomends the City Select, but I cannot justify spending that much money when we don't go out much).

I just found the new Graco Ready2Grow stroller and it looks promising, especially at only $199. When I priced out a reclining umbrella and a double umbrella (for when baby is too big to wear), it comes out to pretty much the same amount.

Just wondering what everyone else is planning on doing.

  • Since we just use a stroller about 30 min per week now,  unless we get a double for free (like as a hand-me-down), I don't think we will get one. I still wear DS almost every day. While I don't think I'll tandem wear a 19 mo old and a NB that much, I think the single stroller should do us fine because I can wear the NB and DS can ride or walk. I am open to changing my mind on it, but probably not until baby is here and I see if it is genuinely a need for us.

  • I'm going to splurge and get an ergo then get a nice double umbrella stroller when this one is big enough for it.  The few people I know that already have/had 2U2 said they rarely used the full size double because they are just so bulky and a pain.  Plus the more E walks, the more she wants to walk while we're out so I'm thinking by the time this one comes she can hold my hand for short things (like doctors visits where she would get out of the stroller anyways) and put this one in the regular stroller.

  • We have the Chicco tandem double stroller. I like it but it's bulky and I can count on one hand the times I've used it by myself. But I was never a big stroller user anyway. I prefer to baby wear until their big enough to ride in the cart. I still wear Emily frequently.

  • i have the ergo and used it less than a handful of times. im hoping that will change this time around.  i just found out my current stroller sells an attachment piece to make it a double. its the uppa baby vista and that piece is 99. i might try for that before getting the city select. ill probably get the select as a gift if i were to guess knowing my family.

  • I'm going to keep my eye out for a used one.  If that doesn't work out then I'll probably get a new one, one that is compatable with my car seat (baby trend).

  • Not pregnant so not sure why I opened this thread. LOL. I just wanted to say that stroller looks cool and I wish it were out when I was pregnant!

If you don't go out a lot, don't get a double. I didn't really use mine much, and I mostly SAH with my kids and we go out just about everyday. I got mine under $200 (the combi twin sport) so in that aspect I dont think it was a terrible investment and it has come in handy at times. However, if I were working I would have never gotten one. Like you say, DH can push one and you can push the other, one of you can wear/carry the baby and the other can push the single stroller, etc. As your LO gets closer to 2, likely she's not going to want to be in the stroller at all. The only time I actually use the stroller now is if I cant get him down for a nap so I take a walk to get both the kids to sleep.

  • We bought the Uppababy Vista knowing that we wanted to have more than one and have them relatively close together, I already have the extra seat that attaches for DS and just plan on using that, but this is also the only stroller that we have purchased so the cost factor is different.

  • We have the graco duo tour double stroller. I use it all the time and it's compact!
