period out of whack and ovulation?

So my DH gave me the thumbs up on trying for baby #2 (I couldn't be more thrilled!) however for the past few months I've been really irregular. I haven't breastfed since LO was almost 7 months, but I think my hormones might still be a little crazy.  I read online that periods this close may mean I'm not ovulating at all... Anyone else have this going on?

Heading to see my Dr. today. Besides being REALLY annoying I just want to get this straightened out.

    How close together are they? Have you tried charting or using OPKs? 

    When I first came off the pill after 14 years, my first few cycles were short, but I was ovulating. (23 days)  I was having short LPs. After a couple of cycles, they evened out, though.

    I agree w/ PP, my cycle was irregular when I came off the pill after 10+ yrs. I used ovulation tests for confirmation when we were TTC.
