Gross Out Challenge (DO NOT OPEN IF OFFENDED EASILY)

Are you ready to play the latest immature game that we discussed??? If you get offended easily, this is your last warning to back out. This is a "no rules, as gross as you can get, let's make each other sick, I dare you not to look, who will go the furthest" kind of post. You have no right to flame or get upset because You Were Warned!!! So what are the rules? No rules! Post the grossest photo you dare. It could be a personal photo, or it could be something off of the Internet. Bonus points for a good story. This can be as crude as a diaper blowout, or it can be as simple as a disgusting looking food. Maybe you haven't shaved your legs in a month and you feel like that's gross. Let's be middle schoolers and have some fun. Ready ....... Go!!!!

Re: Gross Out Challenge (DO NOT OPEN IF OFFENDED EASILY)

  • Unfortunately, I do not have great photos to add right now. I can't seem to get the photos off of my phone. Damn! I will post a few from the internet, just to get us started. The first is of a dermoid cyst. My good friend had one removed when she was a few months pregnant. A dermoid cyst can grow teeth, bones, hair, etc. That freaks me out. . image The second one is of bad teeth. I am grossed out by bad teeth. I see teeth like this A LOT working at a city hospital. image . The last is the mucus plug that got this whole thing started. image

  • euw! Where do dermoid cysts grow? (I guess I could google..)

ETA; dermoid...(origin dermis?) so I'm guessing anywhere on our skin? I didn't google since I figured we can all learn on the thread ;)

This is from the internet..maggots in an eye wound. I am a wound care nurse, and although we don't use maggot therapy on our patients, I have had several patients who had maggots crawling around in their wounds without them even knowing it. Nasty nasty. I have seen some pretty nasty wounds and they don't bother me, but maggots creep me out.

And speaking of bugs (because almost any kind of bug freaks me out), I really really hate roaches...especially seeing a picture of someone holding them. Ugh.

My friend had one on her ovary during her second trimester. Dermoid Cyst Overview A dermoid cyst is a saclike growth that is present at birth. It contains structures such as hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands that can be found on or in the skin. Dermoid cysts grow slowly and are not tender unless ruptured. They usually occur on the face, inside the skull, on the lower back, and in the ovaries. Superficial dermoid cysts on the face usually can be removed without complications. Removal of other, rarer dermoid cysts requires special techniques and training. These rarer dermoid cysts occur in four major areas:?? Recommended Related to Skin Problems & Treatments Skin Problems: Blisters Got a blister? Find out how they start. Hint: Tight shoes and hard work aren?t the only blister makers. Blisters: Basic Information ? Read the Skin Problems: Blisters article > > Dermoid cysts in the brain: Dermoid cysts occur very rarely here. A neurosurgeon may need to remove them if they cause problems. Dermoid cysts in the nasal sinuses: These are also very rare. Only a handful of cases involving dermoid cysts located here are reported each year. Removal of these cysts is extremely complicated. Ovarian dermoid cysts: These growths can develop in a woman during her reproductive years. They can cause torsion, infection, rupture, and cancer. These dermoid cysts can be removed with either conventional surgery or laparoscopy (surgery that uses small incisions and specially designed instruments to enter the abdomen or pelvis). Dermoid cysts of the spinal cord: A sinus tract, which is a narrow connection from a deep pit in? the skin, usually connects these very rare cysts to the skin surface. This type of dermoid cyst can become infected. Removal is often incomplete, but the outcome is usually excellent.

  • Ok. This one is not a drill. This is the real thing. While the photo may not be obviously offensive, the concept is. This is a real life photo taken of the fly trap in my break room at work. I used to work on the 8th floor with a corner break room with two full walls of windows looking out over the Boston skyline. We used to see the most gorgeous sunrises. I now work on the 6th floor. Our break room is a windowless closet with a fruit fly infestation. This jar sits in between are Keurig and our toaster oven. Yummy. image

  • Ok these are all truly disgusting! I don't even know if this is a real breast or not, but someone sent this to me in an email...supposedly you can get worm larvae in your nipple from not washing your bras before the first wear. Blech.

  • Mason&Mama, my friend had a dermoid cyst on on of her ovaries...by the time she had it removed, it weighed 6 lbs. I saw the pic they took of it in the OR. **dry heave**

  • EEEUUUWW!! the nipple one is so disgusting!! I'm still having chills and eeeuuww!!

    omg, and those feet! aahh!

I think I'm majorly grossed out by these two because it seems like they are things that could be avoided. Cancer, dermoids, leech therapy..all those are done on purpose or we just can't control. Euw, but the skin and that boob- Ick!

    Great job ladies!

The photo didn't loom real to me. Then again, as a nurse, I have seen some really nasty wounds . That one looked way too "clean." I didn't want to offer my opinion and ruin the fun though.
