Braxton Hicks - too often?

I don't remember feeling any BH with my daughter, but this pregnancy I can definitely feel them. How many are too many? Is there such a thing? It seems like if I relax, I don't get them but as soon as I start moving around, my stomach starts tightening. I'm drinking a lot of water to try to help too. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • I get them a ton... And they hurt! Keep guzzling the water, and try to always empty your bladder completely. My BH seem to be worse with a full bladder.

  • it is normal to feel more BH with your second, third, fourth... baby.  These are the general instruction: If you have more than 6 in an hour you should lay down and drink 2 large glasses of water.  If they become less than 6 in an hour then you are ok and just need to rest and hydrate more.  If after laying down they are still the sane frequency or intensity then call your OB.

  • My in says 5 in an hour warrant at least a call in. Drink water and lay on your left side, or try a warm bath!

  • Sorry, I'm iPhone bumping! That was supposed to say my OB but it won't let me edit.

  • Do BH feel like period cramps?  I can't tell if I'm having BH or just baby movements/pushing/stretching...my stomach will get really hard once in awhile then go away....not period like cramps but more the front of my belly.

At 30 weeks I was to call with more than 6 in an hour because they can start pre-term labor.  Once you hit term there is not really "too many," but before that follow your OB's guidance.

Try to get about 100 oz. of water a day!

i had no idea about this. i mentioned having braxton hicks a few times at my 28 week appointment; the nurse told me to drink more water, my dr. told me to change positions, drink water, and lay on my left side.
yesterday i had braxton hicks pretty much all day! it was almost constant. after drinking about a liter of water they finally went away, and i haven't had them since.

i really need to drink more water. i am nowhere near 100oz!
