My first one was vaginal and that's when we found out exactly how far along I was (7.5 weeks). My next one is March 12th when I'm 13.5 weeeks and that'll be on my belly. My dr. told me they do the vaginal one when it's still early in your pregnancy b/c the baby is to small to see from your belly. So it depends how far along you are and if they are able to see it from your belly. Hope that helps
With DD my first u/s was at 8w4d and transvaginal. I had my first u/s with this baby at 7w and it was internal too. I thought they had to do it internal when it's early but I definitely could be wrong.

You know, maybe I should call and ask them...I thought since it's not a maternity type place they wouldn't be as advanced...but maybe internal isn't advanced...
Mine was last Monday, so (w1d and it was transvaginal. They said the image would be much clearer that way.

Usually any u/s before 12w is transvaginal b/c it just gives you a more clear picture and accurate measurements at this point in the pregnancy. My doc has always done both each time in the 1st tri.
I had my first u/s this morning at 8w3d, and they were able to see everything fine with an abdominal ultrasound. They don't do transvaginal at my doctor's office, either.
Re: Non CP: Question about first u/s
They did a quick abdominal u/s and were able to see the sac, heartbeat, and baby but it wasn't super clear.
They then did a transvaginal u/s and could see everything much more clearly.
(This was at 7w4d.)

Thank you so much - I just made an appointment at a different place cause the one I originally picked doesn't do them transvaginally!
