Pregnant after IF

One more question! OHSS

ETA: Sorry ladies, I am totally being a PW on your board! So, I have all the symptoms for OHSS. Not severe, but definitely mild. A lot of bloating, definitely enough to make me pretty uncomfortable but not in pain.  Sore abdomen.  Also the feeling like I have to go #2 a lot, but not a lot happening. My question is, did any of you have this before your ET? I am concerned it won't work because of it.

Thanks!

Re: One more question! OHSS

  • First IVF I was fine but for IVF 2 and IVF 3 I certainly felt like this, although I am pretty sure the worst part was after ET.  I was uncomfortable following ER, but that was just from the procedure itself.

Have you been drinking gatorade?  If you are really concerned you should also be monitoring fluids in and out as well as weighing yourself.

  • I had the bloating and soreness from ET but not the #2 feeling.  That could just be from the anesthesia though.

I had a lot of bloating and soreness, and I was also very aware of my ovaries.  They were swollen and I could feel them.  My RE gave me vicodin for after ER.  Which worked out great, because vicodin always makes me incredibly thirsty.

Just drink your electrolytes and pee pee pee!!!!  Gotta get rid of all that extra fluid!

    Good luck!!!!!!!

  • Ok, went and bought gatorade and am not chugging. lol. I feel a bit better knowing that you all had successful bfps and still had some symptoms.  I will tell the RE about it in the morning before my transfer too.  Thanks ladies!

  • I could almost feel my ovaries moving around while I was laying in bed if I had to roll to the side or something.  Weird feeling.  Also, because I had a lot of gas a bloating, every little movement of the gas made my ovaries cramp.  This was a day or two before ER and definitely between ER and ET.  Got better the closer we got to ET.  I still have some gas, but cannot feel my ovaries as much (we are almost 3 weeks past ET right now) and the cramping left only recently.

Hope you feel better soon!  The pps' suggestions are great!

  • I actually experienced very severe OHSS after my ET.  It was so bad I had to be hospitalized, but I still had a BFP so I'm grateful for that. From what I understand a lot of women experience some level of OHSS.  It doesn't seem to impact the ability of the embryo to get implanted.  Good Luck!
