Support Garments?? Other advice? (emergency c-section mama)

I had to have an emergency c-section on Monday. I was planning on a vaginal birth and didn't read up on c-sections. I feel like no one told me much of anything. They didn't give me any literature to read or discharge self-care. All I was told is basically to keep my incision dry, call if it gets puss/infected looking, and see my OB in 2 weeks.

What else should I know? Limitations? Can I start wearing a support garment to help recovery or should I wait until it heals more? If I can, is there one you suggest?

 Thanks

  • I would probably wait until after 2 weeks appointment to start wearing anything extra to cover up the incision.  You don't want to get too sweaty there.  You can always call your ob or a nurse to ask those questions.

  • They told me to limit the steps, once down and once up per day and no driving for 2 weeks.  Lifting restrictions, but not sure of the weight, couldn't lift my 2yo DS after I had my DD.  and what the PP said about the support garments.  I would also call your OB on monday and ask all the questions you have.  I am suprised the hospital didn't give you an after care guide for post c-section.  That seems odd to me.
