Pregnant after IF

How long were you on bed rest

after your ET? I am planning on being on full bed rest the day of, but the day after I wasn't. I will be home from work, but I won't have anyone home with me so I will need to take the dog out occasionally, make food, etc. Nothing too strenuous. The day after I am returning to work.

What do you ladies think? Should I have someone with me the day after ET to be on full bed rest? Do you think I am returning back to work too early? TIA!

Re: How long were you on bed rest

  • I went back to work the day after my transfer ( which was about 22hrs) and I just made sure I took it easy all day. I am on my feet all day at work too. I think that you should be fine with the second day of modified rest. Good luck, hope to see you over here soon!

  • I was on three days of bed rest. I was told to sit for an hour and up for fifteen minutes. Now, I'm spoiled and Dad brought me lunch every day and Mom worked for me at my school and then brought dinner every day, so I didn't have to worry about that. He just told me not to go up and down stairs in socks so I didn't fall and hurt the baby or myself. He was just more about resting!

  • CCRM's rule was bed rest day of and after transfer. They were pretty specific in what I could/could not do those two days. The following day though (2dpt) we flew home and I went back to work two days after that (4dpt). I would just follow your dr's recommendation! I know they can vary a lot!

  • I was on modified bedrest the day of and the day after my ET. I was able to get up for the bathroom, to go upstairs, etc. but for the most part I was laid up on the couch. The day after my ET was thanksgiving - I didn't even go to dinner at DH's parents because most people didn't know about the IVF and if I laid on the couch all day they would have known something was up. DH was in and out of the house to check up on me and bring me food.

  • My Dr only required modified bedrest (or house arrest like he called it) for the day of and the day after. I did 3 full days of lounging since I went ahead and took extra time off for ET.

  • They did not recommend bed rest. I came home and laid with knees up, and went to work the next morning and it worked! 3 days is extreme the doctor said if it's going to implant it will be within 24 hours.
  • My ET was on a Friday, so all Friday and Saturday I stayed in bed and let DH take care of me. The next few days I was just a lazy bum...watched TV, read, etc., and still didn't do much until Wednesday.

  • The cycle that worked for me, I did no bed rest at all. I actually insisted on getting up 5 minutes after the transfer. Some people definitely feel it makes a difference, but I really believe that the outcome will be the same with or without bed rest as long as you don't do anything outright strenuous. Good luck:-)

  • I had my ET at around 130pm on a Friday, and the doctor just made me lay down for 30 minutes before getting up to go home. I had no bedrest instructions, just told to take it easy. I went out to a girlfriend's birthday dinner party, and while I was exhausted, baby and I were fine. I took it easy the weekend after, but didn't stay home all weekend or even on the couch. The doctor said the ET was comparable to a piece of bird seed in peanut butter. It's too small to go anywhere or get hurt. I'm now 12 weeks pregnant! :)

  • IVF 1 - 3 days

    IVF 2 - 4 days

    IVF 3 - 3 days

I always got up right after the transfer and went pee.  My clinic requires bed rest the day of transfer and then just says to 'take it easy'.  My bed rest was completely self-imposed.

    GL sweets!

  • My RE didn't specify, but I laid low for three days. My transfer was on a Saturday and so the first two days were easy. Then Sunday night I had some bleeding and so I stayed home Monday and relaxed some more. GL!
