Little Adalyn: Day 7! PIP

Hello everyone! Adalyn is 7 days old and is still doing pretty well! Here's the latest:

Feeding and weight:

She tolerated the 3ml every 3 hours the day before yesterday, and yesterday they had increased her feeding to 5ml every 3 hours. She did so well that her doctor increased her feeding today to 8ml every 3 hours! That is over 2 ounces a day! What a change from 6 days ago when she started taking my breastmilk at 1ml every 6 hours, huh? Since they are increasing her breastmilk feedings, they are also decreasing her TPN (food via IV), which is good. She had dropped to 700 grams the day before yesterday, and today she is at 740g. Remember, she started life at 800g. Did you know that my body knows that I had a preemie and so the milk that I produce is specially designed to nourish her with extra calories, vitamins, and protein. Basically, a different formula than if I had her at term. I don't think that I'll ever NOT be amazed by the human body.

Hands On Time:

They have increased her Hands On time to every 3 hours, up from every 6 hours. HALLELUJAH!! You have no idea what a difference in our lives this will make. Now we have 8 opportunities to visit and interact with her, and so we can cut out some of the times and do the ones that are more conducive to us getting some rest. I actually slept for 6.5 hours straight last night! I should've only done 5 hours (because of the pumping), but one day isn't going to hurt anything.

I feel like I was able to recharge my batteries a little with that uninterrupted sleep, although I won't sleep past 5 hours anymore for the next month or so since I was so full this morning! I've got to get in at least 8 pump sessions a day, and today I think that I'm only going to get in 7. Oh well, one day won't hurt my supply.

Miscellaneous:

Adalyn's bilirubin went down, so no tanning today. Nesting has set in...but more so for DH than for me! Yesterday he deep cleaned the refrigerator and pantry (threw out some stuff, cleaned all the shelves and walls, the whole 9 yards), actually wiped down all the cabinets in the kitchen (not just the counters), and today deep cleaned the bathroom, including wiping down the doorjams! This is not including the vacuuming, as well as the laundry (which he successfully did under my supervision). He is so cute!

Adalyn opened her eyes for me when I was feeding her. By feeding, I mean that I held the syringe with the breastmilk while it went down her feeding tube. It was so special to be able to hold the syringe, caress her head, and have her look at me.
