Pregnant after IF

Wedding Rings

Well, I had to take my wedding ring off, it was just getting too tight.  I've heard of ladies saying they waited too long and it had to be cut off.  Didn't want that to happen.

I feel naked without it.  My right hand ring is bigger, so right now I have that on.

What are you ladies planning on doing?  Getting a cheapie to wear in your wedding rings place?  Wearing a larger ring?  Or not really swelling, so not taking it off?

Re: Wedding Rings

  • guess i will have to wait and see.  with ds, i never had to take them off.  however, this time i am due in august, so i don't really know if i will swell.

my rings are a big large on me anyway, so maybe they will be ok regardless.

  • I ferl naked without my ring too so if I swell I'll wear this plain band that I bought to wear when I go out of the country on vacation instead of my diamond ring.

  • If it comes down to having to take my rings off I will go to Walmart and buy a cheap one. I do not want to risk having it taken off of my finger since I am due in August and I tend to swell every summer anyway.

  • I have this issue with my fingers getting fat every time I gain weight, so I know it will be a problem during pregnancy.

Because of this, I had a right-hand ring made for my middle finger out of some jewelry I inherited from my mom.  When I gain weight, this will replace my wedding band.  Unfortunately, I've already gained back a lot of the weight I lost before the wedding so I'm already wearing it as a wedding band.  It is a little big, but not enough.

Maybe I'll get a stainless steel trinity ring from Overstock when my fingers become sausages.  Something inexpensive, but I'd wear on my middle finger later.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

  • I've been lucky so far and haven't had any swelling/bloating/weight gain in my fingers.  So mine still fits the same as it did before.  If it gets to the point that I have to take it off, I'll probably wear it on a chain around my neck.

  • My ring still fits but just started to get tight. I took it off a few weeks ago, I didn't want to wake up one day and not be able to get it off. I miss it and feel naked with out it but I'm not going to get a bigger ring or cheapie to wear. After a few weeks I stopped caring that I wasn't wearing a ring.

I personal don't like wearing a ring on a chain but I see a lot of women doing that.

  • I just took mine off yesterday and I totally know what you mean!!!!  :-(  I feelsoooo naked!  LOL

My plan is to put them on a necklace.  I also have some cheapies I got from JcPennys that I got awhile ago.  I'm going to wear those because I don't mind if they have to be cut off.

  • Luckily I haven't had any swelling yet, so still wearing my rings, I have never ever taken them off, so I have a pretty nice indentation in my finger, so hoping that even with swelling I'll still be able to wear them., but if it starts getting tight at all, I'm going to take them off, would never risk cutting them!!

  • I got a cheapie band for the opposite reason, I lost too much weight! My rings were falling off and I almost lost them. To this day they still don't fit. Once I start swelling, I'll get another cheapie. It feels really weird not having a ring on my finger.

With DD i was swollen but not too badly.

I will tell you this -- after I had her, I swelled up like CRAZY, hands and feet. Just extra water and all. It was normal but I did take them off. It lasted for a few days.

  • I stopped wearing mine at 33 weeks because I was starting to have some puffy days and didn't want to risk them getting stuck on.  I didn't really start noticing water weigh gain until around 36 weeks, though.  I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to even get my rings on at this point.  I've just been going without any rings on.  It took a couple of weeks to get used to, but now I don't even think about it.

  • When I ordered my wedding ring, it was too small, so I got a cheapy one at a stand at the mall becuase it was too late to do anything before the wedding. Of course I never got my act together and got the original one rresized, so now, going on five years I've been wearing the cheapy. It's a little big; my engagement ring basically keeps it on. So I may hav eto tke teh engagement ring off but I think I can still probably wear the band.
