Buckley AFB

Anyone stationed there? Love/hate? My DH is I&I USMC and this is one of our most likely possibilities. Im an east coaster and terrified of moving to the west nevermind not having an ocean anywhere near by. A plus I see is that there are a few major hospitals. (I am an ER RN). Whats the weather like? What do you do for fun? Whats the base like? We are used to small duty stations. Anything you can give me input on would be great, thanks :)

This is for all the caterpillars that never became butterflies. And for all the butterflies that never felt the wind in their wings. And for all the hearts that had hopes and dreams of a wondrous flight together.

Re: Buckley AFB

  • My parents live near there in Aurora.  Beautiful area.  My hubby is Army, so we won't ever get stationed there.  I have been there before.  It isn't bad.  It is small though.  THe base however is close to a lot.  Colorado Springs is a day trip and Denver isn't far.  I enjoy the times that I'm there.

  • Buckley was my first base and I was there for 5 years. I loved it and would love to go back.  Weather in Colorado is great! More days of sunshine there than the Sunshine state (FL). There are so many outdoor activities to do for fun, also Colorado is known for having the most micro-breweries, if you like beer.  When I left the base in 2005, it was still pretty small but we had a brand new BX/Commissary which was really nice and they were about to build base housing, from what I hear the housing was really nice.
