Would you take your baby?

Would you take your 2 month old for an overnight @ an indoor waterpark? Friends of ours invited our family & we have 3 older kids so it would it would be great for them, I am just not sure if I feel all that comfortable with taking baby (cold, germs & sleeping) or with having him stay with inlaws (yet)?

Re: Would you take your baby?

  • I wouldn't until at least 3 months :( ... Have him stay with your Inlaws and have a day with your hubby having fun :)

  • I'd personally choose to send him to the inlaws.  Aside from germs and such, you and your family would probably be able to enjoy the day more without a young baby in tow.  He won't know what he's missing anyway and may even be happier getting the personal attention from the in-laws than being carted around a water park.

  • I may be in the minority here, but I am all for it.  I took DD out at a few weeks old.  As long as you are careful and don't let anyone touch the baby, I think you will be fine.

  • Our baby has been out 3 or 4 times (short trips to the store) and she isn't even two weeks. My rule is that nobody touches her. We don't touch her either until we have washed our hands. I agree though that you may enjoy yourself more if you leave baby with the inlaws. Being a FTM that might be more stressful for me to be thinking about her all day long. My friends brought their baby to a big conference at a hotel and carried her around in a Moby so that people wouldn't really touch her. It worked well for them.

  • Take him. We are planning a similar trip and can't wait.

  • Personally I would leave him with the in-laws. Not because of the germs but it will be easier to have a good time with your older kids if you don't have the baby. A 2 month old can't really do anything at a waterpark anyway and then you or your husband would have to always be with the baby while the other one is looking after the 3 other kids.

  • We are planning a trip to an indoor waterpark at the beginning of March for DS1's 2nd birthday. I am definitely bringing DS2 who will be 2 1/2 months old. I think the trip will be fun too.

  • I would take the baby, unless you are really wanting alone time with the older LOs and your H. I wouldn't worry about the germs, and pumping for an overnight trip wouldn't be worth the hassle for me.
  • Germs are going to come home with the other kids and you guys anyways so if you want LO to come then bring him/her.  If you want to get a little space from the baby then leave him/her with the ILs.  I wouldn't put baby in the water though...

DS is 4 weeks old and he goes everywhere errand running with me and started going to church 10 days after he was born.  We went to the mall yesterday so DD could play and he came.  I can't stay home and sacrafice my sanity out of concern of germs.

  • I wouldn't.  Have you ever been to an indoor waterpark before?  We went to Great Wolf and after a few hours my eyes burned from all the chlorine in the air.  Also you have to be careful of all the water that can be dumped on you from above.
  • Thanks for all your input, it is nice to hear others perspective :)

  • I would take the baby at 2 months, nbd.  BUT if their were people I trusted leaving him with, I would do that for sure!  You will be able to have so much more fun with the baby at the ILs.
