Just wondering if anyone is dealing or has dealt with their LO suddenly being WIDE awake at night... this past week LO has been awake for about 2 hours in the night, refusing to sleep and actually quite hyper! It's very unusual for her. She goes down at 6:30pm and usually sleeps until 2am, nurses and back to sleep for a few more hours.
Her first wakeup shifted to 11pm last night and I couldn't get her back down until 2am!! I tried to let her CIO a little with me checking in for over an hour to no avail. Eventually I let her up and she crawled around the house like a maniac. Just wondering if this is just a developmental thing... who knows, maybe she's about to walk and just can't sleep.
Mama is sooooooo exhausted.
Re: LO suddenly wide awake in night
Has she learned a new skill recently? I've read/heard that when they learn something new (crawling, standing, cruising, etc) that sometimes they can't sleep because they are so excited and want to practice. Thankfully that hasn't happened here, yet, but Andrew just started to pull up so I wonder if that's what we're in for.
Hopefully your LO gets back to sleeping for you soon!
This happened about a month ago with Chase. He was fussing, not wanting to nurse, so I went to carry him into the living room to the recline where I nurse him during the day. He saw DH reading and perked right up. I realized he wanted to play and I was not having it. We ended up letting him CIO. Day one was hard, day two wasn't bad (two 20 minute crying fests) Day three sucked. On day four, he slept through the night.
I know that some people may think this is cruel, and I totally understand, but we had tried the no cry sleep solution and it wasn't working for us. I was tired enough getting up 3 times a night to nurse, without staying up with him for one or two hours in the middle of the night to play. I've never done well when I don't get enough sleep. I couldn't let him get into the habit of getting up to play in the middle of the night.
Good luck!
lol I take it back, he was up again for an hour last night. It's definitely teething, at least partially, because I can see the new tooth poking his gums. Poor kid.
