Hey everyone!
My husband and I started TTC last month, and I've posted a few times. But I feel like I don't quite belong in the club, since I'm not charting.
I work varying shifts, from days to evenings to overnights, and so it's not possible for me to temp at a consistent time. I did track CM last cycle--but it was exactly the same every day!
Just curious if anyone else is in a similar boat...
Re: Anyone else not charting?
Everyone suggests it because it is more helpful in answering your questions than we are. You would have the power to know all the answers if you did. But I do understand your schedule predicament.
Try tracking CM and doing OPK's along with it. Those are addicting!
How was your CM every day? Maybe you didn't ovulate (which is why everyone asks 10 billion times if you chart lol)
I agree! Nothing is more frustrating than not know whats going on with your body! And its worth experimenting with for a few nights....
I agree with this too. I, however, rarely get three hours of sleep. I know that would be ideal, but I still see a shift in temp after O. If it's not for you though, it's good you are paying attention to CM. Do you check cervical position too? Between those two, and possibly OPK's you'd probably be / are right on target. People just ask because that is the only definite way to confirm it.
I am not charting now b/c this is my first cycle post m/c and I just haven't gotten back into it. Its not that hard but I have a 2 year old and she sometimes wakes at night so my mornings are somewhat erratic. It is worth it to do at least for a few months just to get an idea of your cycle though.
I did not chart when I got PG with DD, FWIW. I just used OPKs
Not charting either. Since this is our first cycle I thought we'd just let it come. I'm also smack in the middle of my last semester of college. If we aren't pregnant by the time I graduate, I'll most likely start charting then.

I just started charting this cycle. So far, it's not looking like useful information because of my erratic sleep schedule... but I'm getting used to doing it whenever I wake up, so at least when I start my new job with normal hours, it'll already be habit. The main reason I wanted to start is that my body has been weird since coming off BC and I want to know for sure that I'm ovulating. Bonus - my midwife said at my last annual exam that if I start charting, she would like to see my charts if/when we reach a year of trying.
This is the same reason I started charting. Before I went on BC my cycles were all almost the same, after BC my cycle are much longer and I O much later so I chart so I can know when and if I ovulate. It makes is a lot easier when I know what is going on with my body rather than just waiting every month for AF to show up. I am able to temp at the same time everyday though so it is easier for me to keep up a chart. I just set an alarm for the days that I will be sleeping in so I can still temp.
BFP#5 5/22/17 EDD:1/27/17 It's a GIRL!!!!
I am currently not charting because we weren't really trying this past month, however were lazy in the prevention department and I am currently 3 days late waiting on a BFP or AF to show up.
If I do not get a BFP, we talked about it and decided that we really want to start trying. I will start temping/charting if this is not the month for us. I have never charted before, but in the past month of lurking, I have learned a lot and I hope it helps up
I'm just charting for the first time this month, and I'm not sure it's for me--it's stressful, it's not how my biorhythm works. BUT, now that we've hit cycle #5, and I'm a bit worried about a short luteal phase, I thought I'd do it for a couple of cycles just to make sure my ov is coming when I think it is.
I'm much happier with my OV Watch, and OPKs to confirm timing. But, since neither of those actually confirm o, I'm temping this cycle. But it's hell on my sleep and on DH, and I don't know if I'll keep it up.
I didn't chart for the first 5 cycles of TTC, but I did this cycle. I'm glad I did. For starters, it has confirmed that I am indeed ovulating. I have also discovered that I have consistently low temps, which could be a sign of hypothyroidism. I will be be discussing this with my Dr. at my annual exam as a result. Without temping, I wouldn't have seen this symptom. From what I understand, hypothyroidism can be problematic for TTC and for carrying a child.
