Pulsatilla 30 C for breech?

I'm still struggling with my breech baby.

I did pelvic tilts on my back for a while with no results and then stopped doing that once the chiropractor asked me to stop.

I've been seeing a chiropractor for 3 weeks now for the Webster technique.

The high risk OB I've been seeing since I was diagnosed with tachycardia back in the fall has agreed to try a version sometime late next week, but he's not hopeful about it working since I have an anterior placenta.

Anyway, my midwife wants me to try doing pelvic tilts on my hands and knees and to also start taking pulsatilla as a homeopathic remedy.  In theory, the pulsatilla would help loosen tight ligaments.

Has anyone tried this yet?  I'm not normally a homeopathic  remedy user, but I did take arnica pills and use calendula cream when I was recovering from the tear that came with my first delivery.

The skeptic in me is pretty leery of acupuncture and reflexology, 2 other things the midwife has suggested.

Re: Pulsatilla 30 C for breech?

  • Acupuncture with moxibustion has statistically shown great results for turning babies.  It didn't fully turn my baby, but I think it helped put her in a better position to make my version quick and relatively painless.  Also, I just thought it was really relaxing and neat. :)

It is very common to use Pulsatilla to assist in turning a breech baby.  I used it this time around and also used it while I was in labor with my first (she was posterior and needed to turn to come out).   I don't know very much about homeopathy (other than my experiences with it during pregnancy and BF), but I do know it is very different than mainstream medicine.  For example- one big difference is you cannot overdose on pulsatilla.

Pulsatilla is also great when you have a cold. :)

  • At the worst, it's little sugar pills that won't do anything. At the best, it'll have a placebo effect on the baby.

I took it when at the end of my pregnancy with DS2 (I was planning for a VBAC, and a MW suggested it to keep him in optimal position), and I was definitely skeptical about its benefits. But I figured I had nothing to lose.

Are there any chiropractors nearby who know the Webster Technique? That might be another possibility.

Yep, I'm seeing a chiropractor for the Webster technique.  I've had 3 sessions, no luck so far.

I'm sorry the chiro treatments have not worked yet. If you are interested in doing some research you could contact this prenatal chiro organization (I know they are across the country from you) https://doctorberlin.com/index.php to see if they can refer you to a different chiropractor. I only suggest this because their "uterine release" technique is nearly 90% successful in turning breech babies. Perhaps someone near you has trained with this group or are familiar with their methods. I used their services for some non-breech issues and they are highly professional I would think they would be well connected in their commuity of fellow providers.

  • It's 7 bucks and some extra sugar if it doesn't work. If it does--awesome! You don't have anything to lose by trying it.

As for the moxibustion, I tried one session with DS. He didn't flip, but it did get him really moving. It was fascinating and not unpleasant (it was rather relaxing). I ended up doing the version before I could go back again.
