Lately DD hasn't been interested in her formula and purees, let alone finger foods. She refuses finger foods.
She'll take one ounce of formula and stop, and I literally have to fight her to get her to drink any more. She's resisting and fussing, borderline crying as I'm stuffing the nipple in her mouth. Once I do get it in after a long fight, she'll then proceed to suck down three to four more ounces.
I HATE doing this. I HATE the fight. Same with her purees. It's a fight every meal and I'm starting to worry about her getting negative associations with food because it's such a struggle and she looks so miserable.
Do you guys have similar food struggles? Am I being too hard on myself and over-worrying? Should I not fight her as much?
Oh, wise Bumpies, help a girl out...

Re: Having a really hard time with this eating thing...
I'm struggling with my twins too. They eat, they won't eat, they want the bottle, they don't want a bottle.... AARRGGHHH!
every meal is a battle and every time they eat / don't eat / eat great / take a few bites and want out of the highchair. No rhyme or reason to eating patterns. like a food at this meal and hate it at the next one.
must be an age related thing?????
edited to add - mine have been teething lately so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
Sorry, but what's EI?

Yes! That's exactly my DD. So frustrating but I think you're right. It's most likely just an age thing.

Thanks. Yeah, not an ear infection She just got checked out two days ago.
I know it's probably just a stage but I come on here and it just seems like your kiddos are eating EVERYTHING. It's hard not to feel like we're somehow falling behind. I guess it's normal and just hope she'll eventually turn into a somewhat enthusiastic eater.

It's also possible that she's just not as hungry right now. Since I BF, I have a hard time keeping track of just how much BM Chase eats, but I know there are times when he doesn't nurse as often, or as long. He has also been refusing solid foods at daycare right now. I know he eats some finger food at home, but I don't force it on him. He eats as much of the finger food as he wants, then I try to give him some cereal at night to fill him up, and I stop when he shows me that he's had enough. When he's hungry, he'll eat a lot, when he's not, I just figure he's not growing as much right then, or he's teething, or perhaps he has a cold.
When I went to nurse him over lunch, I found out that he's only had half his bottle of BM, (2.5 ounces) and he hadn't eaten any solids. He also didn't nurse for long. He's teething and has a bit of a cold right now, so he's just not hungry.
I personally try to avoid getting into a battle with him, because I want food to be fun. Right now, he's not a picky eater and I'm hoping he'll stay that way.
That said, sometimes DH can get him to eat a bit more by making airplane noises when he's spoon feeding him cereal.

I agree with twirple; sometimes DS has off days when he doesn't nurse or eat well at all. Other days I swear all the kid does is eat; but when I think about it, I have those days too; Days when I have no appetite and days when I'm always hungry. He also has days when he doesn't want to nurse, but will eat any solid food he can find; and days when he won't touch solids and wants to nurse all day. I try to just go with the flow.
My pedi strongly encourages that I follow his hunger cues, forcing food not only stresses both baby and parent out but can, in her opinion, lead to an unhealthy relationship with food. He knows when he is hungry and how to communicate that, and he knows when he is full, so I try to let him communicate that too.
