Today on FB a friend of mine posted a picture of a digital HPT that said "Just Kidding." I know for a fact that we have mutual friends that are struggling with IF right now and at least one that just had a miscarriage.
How can people really be that insensitive? If I had seen a post like that when I was struggling with getting pregnant I would've cried...a lot.
Also, I was talking about it at dinner with my dad and he said "Come on, Allison. You're being too touchy. You only had one round of IVF. It couldn't have been that bad."
Seriously??
My husband informed him that we could be as touchy as we want because we were the ones that actually lived it and after all, before our IVF we did have a baby DIE.
Christ on a cracker. Where do people get off??

People who haven't been through the struggle of infertility do not think twice about doing or saying anything of that sort because they do not realize the emotional toll it takes on people who actually do struggle. I wish there was more infertility awareness out there.
I'm sorry your dad said that to you. That's frustrating.

We need to teach people how difficult it is. My boss, who supposedly didn't know about the IVF but my other boss must have told her, said to me, "Well, getting pg. mustn't have been that bad when you only had to do one round of IVF." Now, I do feel blessed that I did not have to go through the hell other ladies went through, but really lady? I gave her an earful but hopefully in an educated way!

I would have had to say something to both of them. I agree that people don't get it. Some people just don't realize they are being insensitive and when you tell them they are sympathetic. But others (alot of others) don't want to get it. I've learned that over and over again. Some people want to stay in their own little small-minded world. Sigh.
It amazes me that people are clued in enough to be sensitive to a variety of other topics, but not about infertility.
