Gender Reveal Party

My husband and I are thinking about doing having a gender reveal party where we cut open a cake to find out at the same time as everyone what the baby's sex is.  We would only invite our immediately families and best friends (one couple).  I am torn on whether or not to have one.  Votes?

 Part of the reason I am considering the party is so that our familes can both find out at the same time as there were some hurt feelings that my family knew I was pregnant before my in-laws did.  On the other hand I kind of just want to know as soon as possible.  As a side note, we are going to find out the sex prior to birth either way.  Either I would just find out at my ultrasound appointment or we would have the party.

    We are probably going to stay Team Green, but if we find out we will do the gender reveal at the shower... two bird with one stone.  Smile

     

    Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

    I plan on having one so both our families can get together and we can all celebrate at once. I think it will be fun! My sister is going to find out and bake the cake. I will be so anxious! Good luck!

    I think that sounds like a fun idea!  I think I would need to know right away.  I already can't take the suspense, but I think it is a great way to let family members know!

    We had our a/s on Dec 14, and so we waited until Dec 24 and my cousin made a cake where she dyed the cake pink.  She was the only one who knew before hand, and it was so special sharing finding out  with our families! It of course felt like we were a celebrity couple on the red carpet since everyone took pictures and video as we were cutting the cake!It was so

    I would only be able to wait 10 days and nothing more! It really made it very special! :)

    We found out on Tuesday and are revealing on Saturday via a cake for dh's birthday party. My dh an I are the only ones that know. It has been fun to have that to ourselves for a bit. Good luck in your decision.

    I said yes, have the party.  With our first pregnancy, we wanted to know, but were offered the choice at an u/s at 15 weeks.  so we said yes,and found out then.  Its my one regret about my pregnancy, that I didn't have them write it down and open it alone with my husband.  I felt like I couldn't react properly since there was a stranger in the room and my belly was covered in goo...  This time, we still will be finding out, but our current plan is to do exactly what you mentioned (ie, have them write it down and find out with our loved ones).  Seems an awesome way to celebrate :)
