  • My doctor told me 18 months to 2 years but I didn't wait that long lol. Its really when you are ready. Physically and mentally

  • What to Expect When You're Expecting says that it takes 2 years (!!!) for your body to fully recover from pregnancy. Surprisingly long.  So Ideally, I'd guess you'd want to wait that long before you got pregnant again.  However, people certainly get pregnant earlier than that.  To start trying now, you might be setting yourself up for failure.  You need to get your hormones regulated, your pelvic floor strengthened, energy back up....Talk with your doctor about when your body might be in good enough shape to host another baby.

  • My dr advised us to wait until DS was 12 months.

  • My first 2 are 18 months apart.  I don't think I would consider anything closer in spacing (although I know it has been done and people do survive), but it is tough!  I loved their spacing for the first 6 months or so, but once DS#2 became mobile it was very challenging.  I would wait to start TTC until your DS is at least 10 mos. or so.
  • OP, I think this is a matter of personal preference although please do talk to your doctor since they know your medical history.  Your 6 week check-up would be a good time to do this.

I have heard one year but  if you had an uncomplicated pregnancy and a vaginal delivery, sooner may be ok.

Obviously 4 weeks is too soon!  Try to enjoy the next few months with your new baby before you stop preventing!
