gift idea for "pick me up" (needs to be shipable)

My SIL is exhausted. She is doing her medical rotations right now and is working 12-16 hour days w/ few days off at a time.

I wanted to send her a pick me up type of care package. She has Celiac Disease, so I need to be careful w/ baked goods. I'm also sending to NY, so maybe baked goods wouldn't be a good idea, anyway.

I thought, maybe coffee? But I don't know past that.

  • What about like some nice bubble bath or something like that so she could relax before bed?

  • What about ordering an edible arrangement? Our fam sent us one when Luke was born and it was nice to have yummy (and healthy!) snacks to munch on.

This is a good idea, I need to find out if he has a bath tub!

  • I say go for a fruit basket of some sort (or edible arrangement like pp mentioned). Something non-processed always is appreciated when you're working hours that long and never have time to grab real food!

I thought about this, BUT, she's home so little and I didn't know a) how long it would last and b) if she could easily transport to work and c) if she DID transport to work, would it be something she could easily access or would it get eaten up by everyone else?

  • If you are comfy baking for her, I used to send stuff back eat all the time and it was always still fresh.

I think a nice tea/coffee box could be good too. A new cup/mug and an assortment of teas and an infuser or a small coffee press with a small bag or two of coffee.

You could always have something delivered too, like froggy said edible arrangements or some baked goods. A quick google search found quite a few places that do gluten free yummies :)

  • I would do a relaxation kit. Something like lotions or bubble bath that when she is home I doubt she has time to go get a pedicure or manicure. GC to get a massage or pedi would be nice too. Something like this would be fun.
  • Mani/pedi or flowers?

does she has flexibility with her scrubs?  maybe a fun print top?

  • what about gift cards so she doesn't have to cook?  Fantastic takeout?  Or maybe some fruit from harry and david... something easy to slip in a pocket on the way to work.  Lotions and potions sound fantastic too.  Honestly though, when I was in law school the very best pick me up I ever got was pictures drawn by my niece and nephew telling me they loved me and missed me.  So get the boys on it!

  • This would take a little research, but what about a cleaning service? Or laundry service?

I can't think of anything more wonderful than that, but I'm probably projecting. :)

  • This is a cute idea! You wouldn't have to do everything in a jar. Link - https://www.thegunnysack.com/2011/10/everything-in-jar-handmade-gifts.html

  • How about some little gift cards - Starbucks, Chipotle, etc (obviously depending on what she has nearby). I'm sure the last thing she wants to do is cook when she's done with a long shift.

If she doesn't have a lot of time, some home spa treatments might be nice. I know Ulta sells small things of face mask and such.

  • These are great ideas, thank you!
