Pins and Needles - 20 Weeks

in 2nd Trimester

On my upper abdomen, I have been getting a pins and needles feeling several times a day. Is this any cause for concern, or just normal growing pains?

    I have never felt that - I would call your doctor though!

    I'm not sure about pins and needles, but I had some pains in my upper abdomen area that felt like I did too many crunches (I did NO crunches).  I called my doctor and they ended up having me come in and go on the fetal monitor.  Everything was fine and they said it was most likely my muscles separating to make room OR a gastric issue.  She said I could take an antacid and if that worked, it was probably gastric.  It felt more muscular to me so I didn't take antacid and now it only happens every now and then.

    I've been getting the pins and needles feeling right by my ribs. I'm going to ask my doctor at my appointment on Friday. My ribs have really been hurting lately and want to make sure things are fine. I sometimes get the little pins and needles feeling at the very top of my belly in the middle, but not for more than a few minutes at  a time. I'll find out on Friday what the deal is.     Sfurton31 - would appreciate if you post after your appt on Friday and let me know what they tell you.  Have my next scheduled appt with the specialist for the anatomy scan on Tuesday so will be sure to mention it then as well.  Thanks and good luck.

    So I talked to my OB today about the pins and needles feeling and he said that it was totally normal. He said that LO is pushing on my inards and that's pushing on my stomach muscles. He said that since they're stretching, it can cause the pins and needles feeling and it was nothing to worry about. He also said that it will most likely get worse as my belly grows. Great, right?
