Due date rant

Hi ladies, I'm sure there are lots of you out there who are facing what I am right now.. please bear with me because I just have to let out some steam.

I am 39 weeks along in my pregnancy and I am so sick and tired of people asking me why the baby isn't out yet!!  A family member even suggested I ask my doctor for pitocin!  Seriously?!?  I'm 39 weeks not 41!  Why on earth would I want to induce this child early?  It's getting ridiculous.

I get it, all my friends and family are anxious and trust me - I am too, but I'm so tired of people wanting to know if I have had the baby yet.  Does anyone out there have any advice to get these people to stop bugging me??

I love them, but they need to STOP!!

Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. (NLT)

Re: Due date rant

  • I'm still about 3 weeks out and I keep getting "You're still here?"  Yep.  I am and it's likely I will  be here for 3 or 4 more weeks.  It doesn't really bug me yet because I know they are just excited for me.

I actually think they are more anxious for her to get here that I am.  There's still so much I need to get done and I don't want her showing up any earlier than I had planned.

  • I am only 38 weeks and I am already tired of hearing my DH's family ask questions like "How come you haven't popped that baby out yet?" and "If you don't have that baby soon, she'll be 20 pounds when finally comes out." UGH why not give the baby some time?! It's not like I am even over due. AND if my grandma calls me one more time asking if I lost my mucus plug, I will not tell any of them when I go into labor JUST to spite them. Come on!

  • that is why with my first pregnancy I told everyone that my due date was one week later than it really was...at least i got much less of that "are you still pregnant" thing.  Actually when I delivered at 38 weeks (37 to them) everyone asked if he was too early.  do that next time.

  • I've been all belly throughout these last 7 months & I have to hear people tell me ALLLLL the time that there is NO way my date is right. After awhile they almost have me convinced that we should be expecting an arrival sooner than planned! One co-worker just got back from a week of vacation & said she had wondered if I would give birth while she was gone (even though everyone knows I've got 2 months to go). Sorry I have no advice but I feel your pain & I can only imagine how much more this will go on as I am actually getting closer to my date!

  • I'm 31 weeks and already getting the "that baby should come out any time now!" comments. I think it's because I'm short and carrying high, so I look kind of huge already. It might be a long ten weeks if I hve to keep hearing it every day...

I think it might be one of those things where people see the big belly and common courtesy just goes flying right out the window!

  • I feel your pain. I work at a nursing home. If I had a dollar for every comment like that I have heard in the last couple weeks I could seriously take an extra week of mat leave. Unfortunately you just have to kind of grin and bear it. I tend to just give a standard answer like "You know how it is, babies only come when they are ready"
