Migranes

I've been having ocular migranes - which I never had with my first pregnancy. Has any one experienced these?

I called my MW and she's prescribing something -  although I honestly didn't understand what she said it was - I'll have to pick it up after work. I'm hesitant to take it, as I'm that type of person that never takes Tylenol for anything either. So I'm not sure if I'll even take that either.

Just seeing if anyone else is in the same boat, and what they did to get relief.

Re: Migranes

  • I'd try a little caffeine before the mess and see if that helps. Also either applying heat or ice to the sore side of my head usually helps. Hope they go away soon!

  • I also suffer from migraines and they have been very bad so far this pregnancy. My neurologist is prescribing Inderal, which is the only safe preventative during pregnancy. I will need very close monitoring of BP for the duration. I hope it helps!

  • I had really bad migraines at 7 weeks and took some tylenol. Thankfully I haven't had them in a few days. I hope they subside soon for you since it is almost impossible to think with a migraine

Married to my best friend and mom to Calvin, 18 months old. We are so excited to being having Baby #2 (due on our 4 year anniversary)

  • My neurologist and OB suggested and approved 400 mg daily of Magnesium Oxide and 200 mg twice daily of Vitamin B2. Maybe I'm just lucky (and hypervigilant about my triggers), but so far, they have worked like a charm (and I am someone who has been on a ton of preventives and only really found Topamax to work.) Obviously don't add these without their approval, but it might be worth a little research.

    Good luck!
