Gender U/S at 15 weeks...accuracy?

I am sure this has been a topic posted more than a few times already..However, I am going to address it again. Stick out tongue

I scheduled an elective US for next Sunday, when I will be 15 weeks. If baby cooperates, we should be able to find the gender out. My primary reason for scheduled the US was because I didnt want to wait until the end of March for the 20 week scan to see baby! I think finding the gender out would be a bonus, but we will not announce anything until the 20 week scan confirms it.

Has anyone had success this early in determining gender?

    I was told our last was a boy with 100% certainty at around 15 weeks. It was confirmed at my anatomy scan 5 weeks later. Boys are a lot easier to detect - I think I'd still be hesitant to go on a spending spree before 18-20 weeks.

    I think a boy at 15 weeks is pretty obvious. I'd still really be hesitant to buy anything before 20 weeks though, but that's just me! :)

    When I was 14 or 15 weeks with DD the doctor said she was 60% sure it was a girl...she ended up being right...but I was definitely skeptical of that percentage, it's only 10% higher than 50/50...a guess!

    I always say after 16 weeks.. here is an article/post from another forum:

     

     This page has some great photographs showing very early development of male and female genitalia.  You can see how boy and girl parts look almost identical in the early weeks, but the "angle of the dangle" might give a clue.

    I think it depends on the equipment being used. Since I'm assuming your going to one of the "keepsake" places, not sure how trustworthy the equipment is. I was 15w3d last time and found out boy...it was really obvious.

    Thanks for all the help and info ladies! Fortunately, the cost of the scheduled US is only $50, so I am not really spending too much, and to have peace of mind and be able to see our LO again, I think it is worth it! Sure, its a benefit if they can tell me something, but like all of you mentioned, I am going to wait until the 20week scan to truley believe it and/or make any announcements or buy a bunch of clothes! LOL.

    Our regular sono tech said he's never wrong (not in an "I'm so awesome' way) just being honest BUT our friend's doc who doesn't do sonos as often was wrong at their  week appt and the sono tech had to tell them at the 20 week A/S.

    We go to the same office but different OB's.  I don't think my OB would even guess that early.
