Why do 2nd and 3rd pregnancies start showing earlier?

Just a random question....why would you start showing earlier than your first pregnancy?

People say that your body just 'remembers' what to do. I was a bit skeptical as I was pregnant with my son 6 years ago - but, I definitely showed quite quickly with this one!

i've heard its something to do with muscle memory. your body remembers doing it from before, so does it faster each time after.

I think my body forgot, I think my bump looks almost identical as it did this time last time. I'm kind of disappointed that there are some 1st timers showing more than me!

I've heard because the muscles aren't as tight as they use to be.

For me, I already had twins. My stomach is still rounded slightly. I also don't have the most amazing abs so my stomach muscles aren't super strong. That, along with the whole muscle memory thing, makes for showing early. I'm definitely showing and 11 1/2 weeks.

I look with #2 now like how I looked with my son at 18-20 weeks. First pic is 14 weeks with #1, 2nd pic is today, still shy of 14 weeks.

My mother explained it to me like this. Imagine you're blowing up a balloon. The first time you blow it up it's hard because it's never been stretched out before. But after that first time it's stretchy and it doesn't take nearly as much effort to blow it up. That made sense to me lol
