3rd Trimester

Are the cramps leading to real labor suppose to feel like menstrual cramps?

For those who werent induced, what did the beginning stages of labor feel like? (
knowing everyone is different, of course)

  • pain that started in my back and wrapped around my belly, making it tight.  Not like mense cramps at all, which were for me, just usually felt in my lower belly

  • Those are pretty normal. They can last for awhile. GL!

this is how my mom said hers felt.  I thought they felt like I needed to sh*t but couldn't.  Like a combo of diarrhea and constipation.  Like you said, different for everyone, its the fact that you can time them that is the real indicator.  I also had the urge to squat down a bit and grunt/groan.

  • Mine felt exactly like menstrual cramps in the early stages of labor, and became increasingly more intense as I progressed.

  • Kinda -- but they were really defined and timeable, not just general crampiness (I had that for weeks leading up to delivery day).

Labour progressed very quickly for me though so I really can't say much about what early labour feels like. My labour started strong  and stayed that way -- contractions were 45 seconds long and about 3 minutes apart for the first hour... then they were 45 seconds long and 1 minute apart for the rest of the time... that's right, only 15 seconds break between them!
