We're planning a short weekend trip to Chattanooga since Mia is obsessed with trains.
We found a fab house on vrbo, but other than the aquarium and going to see the choo-choo, does anyone have any tips or fave places that are good for kids?
Rock City is really cool if she likes being outside - and there's a creepy glow in the dark thing at the end that was fascinating to DD when she was 2ish. If you have an Atlanta zoo membership, be sure to take it with you to the aquarium - it will get you a pretty big discount as I recall.
There's also Coolidge Park (I think that's the name) across the bridge. They have an indoor carousel and a sprayground (sprayground prob won't be in operation, but she can climb on the statues and things).
Rock City was fun when I was a kid. Haven't been since I lived there 16 years ago, though. Coolidge Park is awesome. Its right on the river and just fun to run around or hav a picnic. There's an indoor carousel and a small spray ground (probably too cold for it right now, though). There's also a great walking bridge right there too.
We are planning to take Gavin to Rock City this spring. It was a cheesy family tradition for me but I'm sure he'll love it. I'm so glad he's old enough to do all this stuff now!
rock city is so awesome and we really liked eating at aretha frankensteins (https://www.arethas.com/). it is in a really cool little area too with some cute shops on the main drag.
Thank you everyone! We are actually going to try to go in April, so it will be a little warmer and maybe we can partake in some fountain action at Coolidge Park.

Since you're going in April, you can check out a Lookouts game, if you think Moa would enjoy baseball.

This is what I was going to say. There is a nice little park area and carousel within walking distance to cool shops and neat little restaurants.
I *think* it's close to the Walnut Street walking bridge.

I actually went to college there and know the town very well. Yes the walking bridge takes you straight over to the park. There is also a climbing rock wall under the bridge and also a big park to bring a picnic.
Where is the house your renting? Is it in town or on the mountain? There are some really not so safe places in Chattanooga that you don't want to stay in the downtown area.
Children's museum is great.
Lookouts game is really fun.
3D theater near aquarium that plays various movies (like Fernbank)
Just bring stroller and good walking shoes. Lots of places to see.
I LOVE the Children's Museum. We took my 2 year old recently, and I think it was $11 a person (including adults) but it was a fun time for all of us. Lots of creative, hands-on exhibits.

The house is in the NorthShore area - across the river from downtown
If Mia is really into trains you might also want to look into The Incline, which is the train/trolley that goes up Lookout Mt. Also, there is the TN Valley Railroad Musuem. It's fun and they do train rides from there. I grew up going there as a kid and We had a great time last year when we tOok Owen up for The Day out with Thomas.

Definitely do Rock City. It's a gas! The Fairyland Cavern bit at the end is like a bad - yet funny - acid trip.
I wouldn't do Ruby Falls though. It's a little too dark and dank, not to mention quite a walk, for a tiny person.

Also, if you ever go in October this festival is way fun. https://www.wineoverwater.org/
That looks really fun!
