What are some good toys for 6+ months? Madeleine got lots of clothes for Christmas, a few books, and some stacking cups. Besides those and her rattles and Lamaze cloth toys she really doesn't have any fun toys. She does have her jumparoo but I think she gets bored with the toys on there too, and she doesn't seem to like laying down on her activity gym anymore. I went to Target today and our Target's toy selection for babies is lame.
What are some suggestions?
Re: What does your LO like playing with?
Well, this may or may not apply to your kid, but mine currently looooves to tear up paper. Newspaper, books, etc. Shes always loved a crinkle sound, but lately the crinkle toys and fabric books just don't seem to cut it for her. And I can't let her actually get real paper because she'll eat the paper she's tearing and chewing on.
Just a few days ago, somewhere on The Bump (sorry if it was this board and this is a repeat!) someone mentioned indestructible books. They are made out of some paper that can't be torn or ripped and doesn't get soggy when chewed. They are small and don't have many pages but they are by far my kid's newest favorite thing. She'll play with one of these forever and she gets the satisfaction of grabbing and pulling and chewing paper without actually destroying anything!
Here's a link to one of them, but there are several others with different pictures.

Those are good suggestions, keep them coming!
Right after I posted this I was reminded of another thing she has..a Noah's Ark plush play set that my mom gave her. It comes with a plush zebra, lion, giraffe, and tiger and they all make creepy animal noises. Well somehow as i was just doing the laundry I discovered the zebra got put through the washing machine. Now it's making the creepy noise over and over all on its own. This zebra might be going in the trash!
That is super cute! I kind of want one just for me!
I will have to check those out! She definitely likes the sound of paper tearing, I posted yesterday about how she was laughing hysterically at me when I tore a piece of paper up, so then I tore up a whole catalog for her amusement. I haven't let her try it herself though.
We have the indestructible books PP mentioned above...
Fisher price crawl along snail is great LO will play with it for multiple minutes (haha)
LO loves to walk around in her new walker:

Haha! That's funny! The things we do to keep them happy, right?
I definitely think she'd like it. I wish I could remember where I first saw someone mention them, because I need to thank that person. I'd never heard of them before but when I saw them I knew they would be perfect. She was getting to the point where she would literally scoot right past all her previously fun toys just to get to the pile of newspaper in the corner. It's just her thing right now.
LO's favorite toy right now is a foam puzzle piece that fits into a foam book. It had a picture on the front, but I took it off because it was getting soggy and falling off anyways. He will ignore every toy in the room if he sees that puzzle piece!
I want to get him some new toys soon too, so I am excited to see more suggestions!
OMG thank you! I just bought a few for DD. Maybe now she will leave my newspaper alone. LOL

DS got a received a toy overload for christmas. our living room looked like toys r us. we sort of stock piled them and he still has about 5 new toys that we haven't given to him yet. that way we could keep him happy for a longer stretch of the year.
well this sounds like a good plan and all, but he gets so bored with everything. i'm sure most babies are like this but ds doesn't seem to have a favorite anything.
i'm going to try the indestructable books. he's a big fan of all things crinkle!
i also let him play with wooden spoons, plastic bowls, anything that he can safely play with that we have in our house. he recently had a blast with the collander (sp?)
DH and I have decided that we're gonna probably go the melissa and doug route and try to get him a lot of wooden toys when we're looking for something new. i figure they can become keepsakes and/or holdup if there is ever a #2.
My latest hob rejection letter was 30 minutes of ripping fun for her. She also loves her Sophie, knobby ball, plush building blocks and my dads ipad (lol)

DS loves his musical table. He has a lap top and he loves to open and close it; the fact that is does all this other cool stuff? Yea, he could care less; he just likes to open and close it!
We just got this and he is obsessed.
My mom gave DD puppets for Christmas - they're jungle animals and she's in love with them. She also likes Sophie, these Leap Pad maraca-type toys that light up and teach them numbers, colors, etc.; her connecting links, and her Fisher Price piano. Oh and anything with different textures - she strokes fuzzy stuff, the embroidery on my bedspread, her play mat, etc.
Everything. soft books, blocks, balls, balloons, cups, stacking rings, rattles, Scout
