I've been thinking about my childhood, my parents took us camping all the time! I really want to be able to do fun things with DS some day.
My favorite family vacation was a trip to disney as a kid. I really would love to do this for DS someday too. I feel like as a kid it's so magical :] Probably would wait until he's older 8 or so. Other than that I'll probably take him to Wellfleet Cape Cod and to Wells ME, my two fav vacation spots now :]
What types of vacations have you taken with LO, plan to take, or want to someday take?
Re: Do you have a dream vacation for you and LO?
We have done Disney a couple times already. I love seeing dd's face light up to the music and colors. (my sister works for Disney so we are Disney spoiled). I also took dd on a family camping trip in the smokey mountains and had such a great time with her. In the future I'd love to take her anywhere we haven't been. I think family vacations that travel out of your normal elements are important.
Ive been wanting to go on a disney cruise for years and I plan to one day especially now that I have a child of my own. My family and I normally go to the beach during the summer and Id love go with her this summer. I'd also like to go to Martha's Vineyard. Maybe the Gaylord Hotel Ice show near her bday (ohh good idea for a bday trip in Dec.) one day as well. My ultimate dream vacation is going to Bora Bora with my family but that is in the far future.
All this vacation talk sort of makes me sad because her dad and I always went on vacation together he has even gone with my family places and we always had a ball, always. This past September for my bday was our last vacation together before the breakup. In fact we would always go somewhere on each others bdays. Its just sad that she wont get to experience that sort of togetherness or the fun times we had :'-(
But I guess this is a feeling ill get used to eventually. Time to make new memories with my little Tinka.
I definitely am planning a trip to Disney when the kids are old enough to appreciate it. My parents brought me 6 times when I was a child. Unfortunately that won't be for about another 6 or 7 years. If I am seriously dating someone or married before then we might just go down anyways and go to Epcot since it is more cultural for adults. Then return for the children later on.
Until then I'll do cheaper vacations like camping, fishing, stuff like that. I just don't really see them truly enjoying anything while they are still so small.
I hear you on the first vacation without your husband. I thought that was going to be really tough but it turned into such a great time. On the plus side no cell phone service in the mountains so I also got a break from his daily calls/all around craziness. I suspect our next trip will get even better since I have adjusted more to just being the two of us.
Heads up, Disney is free for children under 3. If a trip to Disney is something you only want to do once in your lifetime then I understand waiting until the kiddos are older. However if Disney is something you would like to do more than once in your kids lifetime then start early. There is so much to do for very young children. You can stay at a Disney hotel for under $100 a night and under $50 if you want to camp at a very cool camp ground there. You can also pack your lunch and carry it in the park to save money on food. Disney can be done on a very tight budget. Also while the kids aren't enrolled in school you can choose to travel during non peak times when the prices drop by almost half and there are very little lines making it even more enjoyable with kids.
I want to take DD on a Disney cruise someday. I wish I could afford to travel the world, there are so many places I want to go and would love to take DD. We will probably go to England since SO has family there. I want to go to France to explore our heritage and to Italy. I doubt I'll be able to afford it, but we'll see!
He was my boyfriend of 9 years. Im sure one day ill get use to doing things with just the two of us and love it! :-)
I love traveling and plan to take DS everywhere with me! (when he is old enough obviously). I've been to El Salvador, and Costa Rica 2x. The list still include Belize, Panama, Spain, Dominican Republic.
And obvi Disney
