Overnight diapers

So, someone has decided that they like to flip onto their belly at night and spend some of their sleeping hours in that position. Works for me, except that we've now had diaper leaks the last 2 nights, I think because it's coming out the front when he is on his tummy. He is still getting up 2-4 times a night to eat, but I'm trying to only change the diaper once a night since it wakes him up and makes the getting him back to sleep part more time consuming.

Those of you who have babies that are STTN, what are you doing for the diaper situation overnight?  Right now we are using up the last few size 1s and will move exclusively to size 2s within a day or so. They are still a bit big on him, so I'm wondering if the extra bit of diaper would help prevent the leak.

Re: Overnight diapers

  • We have been using the pampers baby dry diapers, which are supposed to be good for 12 hours. They are the same size as her daytime diapers and so far there have been no leaks.

  • How big is your baby? T is about 13lbs and in between sizes...the 1-2s are a bit too snug. We've been using the 2's mostly but I've noticed that they loosen up too much around the legs as she sleeps and we've had a few leaks in the morning. Not sure what to do because she'll leak in the too-small ones also Sad
  • My guy is pretty small - 12lb 1oz at his appt last Wednesday. Being inbetween sizes definitely makes it tough.

  • Diaper doublers! If you move up a size they will still leak because they might be too big!
  • Lopes - can you school me on these diaper doublers? :) I've never heard of them.

I get them at the grocery store. It basically just looks like the pads you got in the hospital but with no plasticy bottom, just the fluffy pad. It sits in the diaper and absorbs everything!

I am intrigued, I have never seen or heard of these.

DS is in a size 3 pampers and he has yet to leak at night, he sleeps 11-12 hours straight. He has started sleeping on his side and waking up on his belly but still no leaks. I will say that when I put on his last diaper before bed that I make sure he is pointing down but I honestly have no idea if this helps.

I have also heard of people using maxi pads in the diaper. But yeah, they are pretty basic. Check out the baby aisle at the grocery store, Target and BRU don't carry them.

  • I second the 'pointing down', Jonnygurl. We are in a size 2 swaddlers over night and he goes from 6 to 6 with them - no leaks. I remember when the size 1s were getting small, though - that's when he started leaking a bit.

  • Thanks ladies! Lopes, I'll look for those next time I'm at the store.

We used a size 2 baby dry last night - I changed it at the 1am feeding and it worked great. No leaks! Hopefully we continue with that.

  • I have been using baby dry also, but I did have one leak so far.
