D.C. Area Babies

I think you've mentioned that you've taken your kids to Port Discovery in Baltimore. How much were they able to do there? It looks like a cool place, but almost all of the activities/exhibits seem to be recommended for ages 2 and up, so I'm wondering if it's worth our while to go with an 18-month old.

  • Yup, we went up there a few weeks ago. There was some stuff they couldn't do or didn't quite "get," but they still had a ton of fun. I actually blogged about it if you want to read my short review:

The only room I didn't mention in there that they liked was the water room. They have water tables specifically designed for the 2 and under crowd. However, be sure to bring an extra shirt for you and your LO b/c it gets wet, even with the little cover-ups they provide.

We were probably there for about 2.5 hours, and then they started to get fussy. We got there shortly after it opened so it wasn't that crowded yet. We also went on a weekday, which helped. We loved it. It's a bit pricey, but for us it was worth it to get out of the house and do something different.

  • Thanks! I read your blog post and it sounds like they have some fun things for kids that age. I think we'll check it out.
