each month we pay our cable bill I am more and more motivated to cancel it because the $$ makes me cringe. I know all about the options available for non-cable but I'm curious about what channels/programming you absolutely, 100% miss the most.
The only other time I have missed it is when the Spurs are in the playoffs- we've yet to find a (good) way to get the games. Last year we found something online- paid something like $50 for the playoff season, but it turned out not to be legit (and crappy reception) they were basically pirating off of whatever signal they could find ans sending it through. UGH!
If DH were a sports fan, I don't think we could go without cable.
DH misses Formula 1 racing, it was almost a dealbreaker.
Not a show per se, but I feel a little out of the loop sometimes. Where before I'd flip on a news channel once a day and get filled in on what's going on, now I have to go out of my way to make sure I read top stories. I also had no idea about the Hunger Games movie until the post on here since I never see previews. Stuff like that bugs me a bit, but it's still totally worth it.
DH misses Sports, I miss news, Ellen, and Food Network.
I still won't go back to cable, though.
I'm so out of the loop, but I thought Ellen was on network TV? Is she not. We have a high-def antenna so we still get and record all the network stuff.
If she is now on cable- just ignore me.
Oh and it made me think of one other. If DH had not found a way to get it (which I would never be able to do) I would really miss The Daily Show! Not sure if you can watch it online anywhere?

Ellen is on network tv, but DH tried and failed to hook up an HD antenna so I haven't seen an episode in moooonths.
And I thought we had The Daily Show in our Hulu+ Queue, but maybe its just clips, not episodes? I haven't checked it out.
I also miss the cable news shows, Food Network, and HGTV. I also miss being able to watch movies that come on cable all the time because they are not available on Netflix.
I was missing the Daily Show and Colbert Report, but I watch so many clips now I don't feel like I'm missing much. We just got Hulu Plus, and I saw it was available there too. Yay!
I miss all the Kardashian shows and HGTV. But neither as much as I thought I would. I rarely think about it, and have plenty of TV to watch between Hulu (regular, not even paid!) and Netflix.
I can honestly say I don't miss any of it. I used to watch a lot of food network adn TLC, but I don't miss it at all. Maybe just ESPN because there were one or two games we couldn't get this past football season.
I miss the "nerd channels": TLC, Discovery, Discovery Health, History, History International, National Geographic, HGTV, Food Network... If I'm honest with myself, I also miss the trash on E!, MTV and VH1.
I am obsessed with the Olympics and it killed me last time that I didn't have 20 channels of non-stop olympic coverage.

I honestly thought I would miss it, but after all this time, I don't really miss anything. However, there were a few games we missed this past football season that were only on cable (both nfl and college).

I would totally cut our cable, but I would have to send DH to some kind of ESPN rehab center. The man has a serious addiction.

I'll miss Bravo and HGTV the most. Our cable ends the 15th.
Perhaps this article will help - a friend sent it to me this morning.
