Day 2.....is going okay but man oh man the screaming fits are ridiculous. I know I'm way behind the timeline on doing this, but I've been trying to avoid this.
T&Ps for me & G please?

the first time I went cold turkey with the bink I cut the tip off. worked like a charm and DS wanted nothing to do with it because it was "broken". he was chewing them and it scared me. he doesn't chew it anymore and then he got it back for naps, then he got sick, traveling and I'm a massive pushover, so he still has it.
DD still uses one and she's almost 3. I'm not pushing the issue right now. Her pedi's not concerned and it's how she comforts herself. FWIW, we cut the tip off of one and she still sucked on it.
We tried to quit the bop so many times, and always caved. It was a resolution for me this year, and we finally did it. Went cold turkey on Jan1. It took a few weeks for her to stop asking about it here and there, but the crying only lasted a couple days. Now when she's hurt or sad she says, "I hurt my foot, but I don't need a bop 'cuz I'm a BIG girl!".
For us, we just gathered up and hid all of them. When she asked for one, we'd say "I don't have one.. do you?" She spent the first couple days digging around for a bop a few times a day, but eventually would just say "I can't find it" and move on. I have to admit, the first night when she was looking ev.ery.where. for one, I was totally heartbroken for her.
i'm no help. my pediatrician said to let her be done with it when she was ready. i ignored her advice and tried 3 times to make her drop it and caved every time. eventually like the doc said, she was ready to be done on her own.
either way, hang in there. regardless of how you do it, they won't use it forever
Good luck. But, I wouldn't say you're way behind on it. DD was about 2.5 years when she gave hers up and DS still has his at 2 y 9 m. He only uses it for naps and bedtime, but he LOVES it soooo much I just haven't pushed. I'm hoping he doesn't go to Kinder with it.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I really didn't care that he still had one, but my DH wasn't a fan & my mother would comment on it often as well. I finally got tired of hearing about it I guess. But it breaks.my.heart. when he's crying for it because I know that's his comfort item.
This morning was awful, but we're on day 3 & we're getting there.....hopefully by this weekend, he will have moved on. Here's hoping.
Thanks again for all the kind words!

But she was fine. And G will be, too.
Good luck, mama!
