Hi Ladies,
I'm a 2nd time mom, but the first time around I wasn't too concerned with stretch marks (figured I'd get more when I got pregnant the 2nd time and boy did I).
I was wondering what you all recommend for stretch marks. Would you mind sharing your opinions? I put lotion on every day, but am hoping to really tackle the marks after DS is born.
Thanks in advance!
PS. My ticker is NOT accurate. DD is 2 1/2 now. I keep trying to delete the html code from my profile, but it doesn't work.
Re: Best remedy for stretch marks
im a FTM so im not sure, but ive heard good things about Bio-Oil- and I'm a die hard Amazon fan and the reviews on there are pretty favorable! basically its for already existent stretch marks (which i have been blessed with) and it seems like it darkens/fades them over time- pretty well according to reviews. and for $10 i figured i'd try.. there might be something better though but thought i'd share!
heres the link to what i ordered:

From what I've read, moisturizing with lotions that contain cocoa butter/shea butter can help (I use Belly Butter), but there's really not a thing you can do to prevent them from happening and genetics plays into it as well.
My mom didn't get them with me and so far so good over here.
Time.
I use coca butter lotion on my tummy and I still have them. The ones on my hips from puberty are nearly impossible to see since they've faded and lightened over time.
Bio Oil has seemed to help keep them at bay for me... so far so good (knock on wood). It does NOT make me itchy, but that's just me.
As far as this summer goes, ff you like to lay out in the sun, be sure to cover the area with the stretch marks VERY well while your skin is healing - with sunscreen of at least SPF 30 - while a tan may temporarily mask them, sun damage will only make them worse in the long run and they will NEVER fade.
Mama Mio tummy oil!! That stuff is amazing. I got stretch marks every where I did NOT rub that oil. But I didn't get any where I did rub the oil
This is my first pregnancy and I didn't realize my butt and thighs were going to get so big and wasn't concerned with stretch marks there, I should have been..
Once you have them nothing will remove them unfortunately. After having DD I got the famed stretch marks + extra skin flap (gross I know). I have used Palmers, Vitamin E, neosporin Scar Solution, Bio Oil and pure coco butter w/ colagen and unfortunately after 8 years those darn marks are still there, though slightly faded over time.
I have spoken to a dermatologist and a cosmetic surgeon, both said there is nothing I can do. So after DS arrives i'm getting abdominal plasty and just having the scarred skin removed.
My mom and her BFF swear by mothers friend. I found it on amazon as it doesnt appear to be sold in stores anymore. They both do not have stretch marks after several children and I do not have any at this point
Second time mom here. I agree that nothing is a guarantee. Obviously genetics and factors beyond your control play massively in getting stretch marks. what I've used for both pregnancies is plain vitamin e capsules. I break them open and lather my stomach in the oil. It's not fun or pretty looking but my skin soaks it up. I try to do it once a day at least. My fall back is using Genes Swiss Creme with vitamin e. I swear it's amazing. You can get it at SAMs club or amazon.
