Full disclosure: I did not read the entire article, only skimmed it.
I thought that there were already laws that said employers have to provide a place for a BFing mother to pump, and that they can't get fired for it? At my old job, there was a magazine article posted in our lactation room about the rights of breastfeeding mothers. I thought this was commonplace? Or is it a state by state thing?
Re: Fired for pumping? Aren't there laws already in place against that?
But there are federal laws.
Proud Cloth Diapering, Babywearing Mommy to Desmond (5.30.2011) and Evangeline (2.26.2014)
Loving wife, best friend and teammate to Babywearing Daddy, Kelly (7.27.2000)
Volunteer Babywearing Educator at Babywearing International of South Central Pennsylvania
Laws have varied state to state but the Fair Labor Standards Act was amended recently to include language surrounding reasonable break time for nursing mothers to express breastmilk during the course of their work day. This is one of several federal laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor.
