How do you interpret the instruction to "never leave your baby unattended"?
I'm just curious. It's a simple enough thing to say, but what does it actually mean to you?
For example, I know not to leave LO "unattended" in his bouncy seat. But that could be interpreted as stay within 3 feet of him, within 10 feet, within sight of him from a different room...etc.
Re: "never leave baby unattended"
I think it depends on what you do with baby. If he is on the change table, I would say always keep a hand on him. On a bouncy seat within sight of him etc.
I bought a couple onesies the other day that said on the label "not for sleeping in". That confused the heck out of me. It is plain, nothing that can pose a strangulation/suffocation hazard.
I agree with it depending on the situation. I use the bouncy seat and jumparoo to hold her while I'm pumping if she is in an active mood and won't lay still next to me.
Unless she's asleep in her crib, though, I'm pretty much always in the same room with her or darn close to it.
Yup. Clothes either have to be flame resistant or closely fitting for babies to sleep in. All baby clothes are flame resistant unless otherwise noted.
OP, in a bouncer I would say within sight. By the time my LO will be moving too much to safely be in it, he'll meet the weight limit on it.
I usually put DD in her crib if I need to do something where I can't watch her. If she's sleeping in her bouncy seat, I'll leave the room briefly. I keep her strapped in if I'm not sitting right in front of her.
I always took it to mean not to leave unattended in an unsafe situation such as a car, tub, up high, etc.
I would consider a bouncy seat/swing safe since you can buckle them in (not that their going anywhere at this age) so "unattended" in them to me would mean you are too far away to hear them crying.
