Anyone else have bizzaro baby thoughts?

My mind tends to go a bit like this...

"Man that foot is really jamming in my side!  You know what's odd, I almost never feel what I think are the baby's arms.  Omg, what if its arms don't work?!"

"I'm glad the dog is barking like a maniac so the baby gets used to it.  I'm surprised it doesn't really react to the dog.  Or other sounds, really.  Omg, what if the baby is deaf?!"

And so on.  Please tell me I'm not the only crazy one!  Stick out tongue  As soon as I've thought it I can pretty much dismiss the thought and laugh at my paranoia.

  • I'm happy I'm not the only one that does this haha! The one thought in particular that has been nagging at me is...

"Boy, I can sure feel her back and butt up here high in my stomach, it's like I'm carrying a rock! But the lower half of my stomach is kind of flat and squishy. Omg, what if something is wrong with her head?? What if it comes out too small or something??"

  • I don't think I've had any really extreme irrational thoughts, but I get kind of worried when I feel movement near my hip bone. I feel like I might be grinding or smashing her little hand when I'm laying down and I move my leg up. I know it's silly and I'm sure whatever position I'm imagining her in is probably completely wrong...

  • Today I wondered if he was biting me in there. Probably not.
  • I absolutely do this, especially the hearing.  I also obsessively worry about her placenta being damaged and me not knowing it.  My mom tells me it never stops, and she still worries about irrational things with me and I'm 28!

This is totally me!  It's weird because I just started having these thoughts recently; I think it's probably because she's so big now.  I was leaning on my bathroom counter (which hits just above my pubic bone) this morning while I was getting ready for work and suddenly panicked that I was denting her head or something.  It's completely ridiculous!

  • You're not crazy! I was worried my LO was deaf until I realized how strongly he reacts to DH's voice.

I pictured him nibbling on a rib, probably not plausible through the ute.

Yep, mine too!  My voice, not so much, but he LOVES hearing his daddy's voice!

  • Love this post, although I'm not going to post my irrational fears on here.  Because no one would take me seriously again..EVER.  I've had some doozies.

  • I keep waking up on my stomach which I don't even know how that is possible for how huge I am....but when I do I keep thinking I squished the poor kid's limbs!

I LOL'd for real. I just imagine baby going "NOM NOM NOM" trying to bite your ute but can't because it's all flat and (i assume) slippery.

This is my brand of craziness, too.  Every time I twist a little weird, or lean a little too far over and start to feel an ache, my mind screams ABRUPTION!

  • I was worried my kid might be born with a duckbill, thanks to one really terrible u/s pic. haha. OK I really didn't think that, but all the profile shots were really weird and did kind of worry me that something might be wrong with his/her nose/mouth/chin.

  • I am constantly worried when I don't feel him move every second of the day that there is something wrong. I am also extremely paranoid to keep working on the nursery. We have everything for it but it still scares me to put the sheets on the crib and the clothes in his closet and dresser. I guess I won't feel better until he is here in my arms. And then a whole new set of worries will set in!

  • I was greatly comforted at the very beginning of pregnancy to read that your nervous system is already aware of the baby and the space she needs way before you can consciously feel anything, so that's why we don't smash them or cut off their blood supply accidently. Even without knowing why or thinking about it, you'll be compelled to move to accommodate the baby if your position isn't working for her. I do worry that I still often wake up sleeping on my stomach or my back (how??), but I figure the baby couldn't be pounding my ribs this hard 24/7 if she weren't healthy and strong.
  • my coworker, for no reason at all, thought her baby was blind the entire time she was pregnant. her baby girl came out perfectly fine and totally able to see.

i woke up in the middle of the last night and couldn't get back to sleep because i kept having thoughts about the baby having digestive problems and abnormal poop.
