My baby is a 22 pounder, 9 months old. I have a Mei tai, which is great, but we never really got into the hang of wearing around the house. He spit up a lot when he was younger (esp. bad when I would wear him), and was eating every 2 hours (and taking an hour to do it)....so I really only wore him when we were on walks or out of the house. At home I just carried him around everywhere, and now I tend to carry him or sit and play with him when we're at home (he goes to daycare 4 days a week).
We're having major sleep issues and I'm not okay with CIO. While I nurse him to sleep now, I'm wondering if wearing him down a bit would help. He often wakes up late in the evening and won't go back to sleep (he has eczema and despite our best effots he wakes wanting to scratch his face off). I'm thinking I might be able to lully him to a deeper sleep and distract him from scratching during these times. The Mei Tai doesn't seem to be the best carrier for this as he wakes up too easily when I take him out. Would a ring sling or a woven be any easier or more condusive to this, or am I completely off base?
Re: baby wearing question
When we have issues getting DD to go to sleep I get her into her night gear and then tie her on with my woven, once she's asleep DH comes and unwraps me... like a present at christmas
and she'll stay fast asleep.
I have a friend who's DS has eczema and she's found that wearing him ends up with him rubbing his face on her chest instead of scratching, have you found this with your LO?
Unfortunately, this does happen. I figure it's better than him scratching, but it still just makes the eczema more inflammed.
