i'm so over this.
tomas never pooped in the bathtub, but audrey is making it her job.
we don't do a bath every night and she doesn't usually poop at this time when it's not bath night. perhaps the warm water stimulates her bowels?
i've tried putting her on the potty before bath time (she's been asking to sit on it, even though we aren't actively PT'ing).
has anyone else had this problem?
i really don't want to have to buy swim diapers for bath time, but i'm also totally disgusted at scooping poop, draining the tub, scrubbing and sanitizing all the toys each night, just so she can do it again the next time.
Re: bath time pooping
A while back we went through a rough patch with pooping in the tub. If it wasn't one, it was the other. It usually happened after they ate a big meal or we were bathing them at an unusual time. Until the pooping stopped we limited toys in the tub and cut bath time super short, no playtime.
Good luck. It is a huge hassle so hang in there.
ugh, i was hoping someone would say that i just had to wink at her a certain way or something super easy like that!
I agree about keeping it short with no playing. Maybe she'll make the connection somehow...pooping = no playtime? Though I doubt it's a conscious thing that she plans ahead of time to reserve for the bath, so there's probably not much you can do during this phase. She's old enough to stand in the tub, so I'd switch to that and see if not soaking in warm water makes a difference. We have a sprayer attachment, so it makes giving the kids half-baths/half-showers easy. And if you haven't already, invest in a fish tank net for fast removal!
getting one of these today!
OMG what a good idea! J pooped in the tub once when DH (our usual cleaner-upper) was out of town. We had done a bubble bath, so trying to scoop the poop out of the tub with a cup when I couldn't see it through the bubbles and J was dripping wet on the bathmat . . . nightmare. I think we were both crying by the end.

I think the warm water makes it easier to go; does she have normal poops usually or is she sometimes constipated? if she is, then the water probably makes it easier to go.
I am so sorry, I think you are doing everything right, putting her on the toilet before bath, etc. I hope it is a phase that passes soon (we too have been there and I am sure will be there again.)
she varies. most of the time, though, her stools are soft. she drinks plenty of water and still nurses a few times a day. she normally has 2-3 poops/day. the bath poops have been soft and slightly hard.
