What is your inspiration for losing weight...?

Is it to be healthy? (I hope so Big Smile) Is it a incredible shopping spree after you lose the weight? Perhaps you're planning a vacation and want to wear a nice bathing suit... or maybe you want to look good for your DH or significant other? Whatever your reason is you should tell us about it. It's always nice to remember why you want to lose weight.

For me...It's to be healthy of course. Plus, I feel like I have never been comfortable in my own skin and after having 2 babies I have become insecure. I don't want to be insecure and instead of whining about my weight forever... I would rather look back and say "I finally did it" instead of saying "Gosh I hate looking like this". (Why waste time right? Wink)Also, I want to have family vacations that are active like rock climbing, rafting, etc. And I can't wait to wear the clothes that I think are amazing but I know I can't pull off right now!

Good luck to everyone!

Re: What is your inspiration for losing weight...?

  • When I was losing weight, my inspiration was to be comfortable in my own skin. I'm 5'7" - being comfortable in my own skin meant a goal weight of 144. I didn't want to be stick thin. I wanted to be in a healthy weight, able to run around with my daughter, and not feel bogged down by my weight. At my heaviest, before I gave birth, I was 198lbs. Slowly but surely I worked the weight off. It took time, patience, and so much dedication. But I did it.

My goal now, and forever, is to maintain my healthy weight. I love running, and lifting weights, and do so 4-5 times a week. I found something I love to do, and I stuck with it. That's the only way to make your weight loss successful. Don't torture yourself into something you hate. Find your passion and run with it, literally.

Congrats! I actually like working out also and I've made it fun rather than looking at it as a chore it's something I look forward to throughout the day

  • It started for me when I was watching my daughter and son play one day.  That's when it hit me that I really needed to make some changes in my life to show them how to be the best they could be.  My daughter (3) drink milk or water and sometimes diet tea.  She never drinks or asks for soda.  I on the other hand was a soda addict.  My resolution this year was to give up sodas and so far I haven't even had a sip.

I really and truely can't tell you a time that I have been happy with my body even when I was a tooth pick.   But now I started exercising and for the first time I'm seeing changes that have made me feel more confident in myself.

Everytime I feel like skipping a workout I think of my kids and what kind of example I am setting.  It also helps that DH has decided to make a lifestyle change too.

  • I just want to feel sexy for myself and my DH once we start TTC. I have learned that weight and health play a big role in conceiving and I want to be ready! :)

I am right on the line of being overweight. 175lbs at 5'10...not feeling comfortable in my skin and ready for a change. Just started looking into Weight Watchers. Goal weight is 150.
