    Victor Aaron

    Victor- (Latin) Winner, Conqueror

    Aaron- (Hebrew) Exalted, Strong

Bonus Answer: We didn't choose names solely based on the meanings, but I do like the meanings of our children's names.

  • I picked my kids' names based on how they sounded and to give a nod to family members primarily, but I did look up both of them first to make sure they didn't have any wacky meanings.

Sean Patrick: Sean (by the grace of God) Patrick (nobleman, patron saint of Ireland)

Blake Benjamin: Blake (attractive and dark) Benjamin (son of my right hand)

  • Cute idea!

Maddox - No real meaning here.  One source says it's an old Welsh name meaning "benefactor's son".

Cole - Hard to find a meaning here, too.  One site said "Victory of the People".

Obviously, we didn't pick his English name for its meaning.  Stick out tongue

His Hebrew name, Feivel (bright one) Moshe (drawn from the water), is very special to us, though.  His namesakes are my grandmother (Frances) and Brad's (Miriam, sister of Moses (Moshe) in the bible).

  • First Name:

Ethan e-than as a boy's name is pronounced EE-than. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Ethan is "firmness, long-lived". From Eitan. Biblical: a man of Israel noted for his wisdom

    Middle Name:

Joshua j(o)-shua as a boy's name is pronounced JOSH-yoo-ah. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Joshua is "Jehovah is salvation".

We picked Ethan because we wanted a Hebrew name and because it was one that we both liked and agreed on Stick out tongue We also wanted a Hebrew name for his middle name, and to keep with tradition, we named him after someone who past in our family. I took the "J" from my Auntie June and that's how we got Joshua.

  • Caelan (Irish, Gaelic) - "victorious people","slender", "warrior", "Irish form of Nicolas", "lark" (seriously, I keep finding something different every time I look!)

    Vaughn (Welsh) - "little", "small"

We did not choose these names based on the meanings.

Feivel is my DH's grandfather (who past last summer) Hebrew name and my nephew was named the same after him!

LO's Hebrew name is Yochanan Rishon - DH's grammy was Chana Risha so we named Ethan after her Big Smile

Wow - Yochanan (and Chana) are absolutely beautiful names.  Biased, but I love Feivel Moshe, too - reminds me of the cute little mouse in American Tail.... ;)

  • Taylor- means Tailor, ha!

Nope, we chose it simply because we love the name.

  • Colby is English and means Coalworker, I have also seen something to do with coal black hair, which he did have when he came out, but we decided on the name before we knew that :)

We did not at all pick the name based on the meaning.  I just loved the name.

  • Jacob Stephen - Jacob is Hebrew, meaning the supplanter; Stephen is Greek, meaning crown.

Allyson Grace - Allyson is Teutonic, meaning noble or kind; Grace is Latin, meaning (obviously) grace.

Neither of our kids' names were picked for their meanings.  We went w/ names that were either a.) family (Jacob, Stephen, Allyson) and/or b.) carried a religious connection (Jacob, Stephen, Grace).

  • I didn't pick DD's name for meaning, but I do love the meaning of her name and is fitting for our religion and our desire for her as she grows up and is raised.
  • Annabelle-

    Meaning: Grace; favour; loveable

    Renee-

    Meaning: reborn

We didn't pick Annabelle because of meanings. DH really liked this name and we decided on Renee because that's my middle name.

Blake Benjamin: Blake (attractive and dark) Benjamin (son of my right hand)

I love both names, but I really love Sean Patrick. It just sounds so Irish, and I dig that (shocker) ;)

Yeah, DH is very Irish  and he really wanted an Irish name (and I happen to really like Irish names, so win-win!)

I love both Abigail and Liam by the way....Abigail is my niece's name and she is a lovely young lady.

    Abigail Claire

Abigail: From the Hebrew name ?????????? ('Avigayil) meaning "my father is joy". In the Old Testament this is the name of Nabal's wife. After Nabal's death she became the third wife of King David.

Claire, derived from Clara: Feminine form of the Late Latin name Clarus which meant "clear, bright, famous". The name Clarus was borne by a few early saints

I love this!  Both Abigail and Claire were on our short list of names.

  • Name:  Dylan Gabriel

Meaning:  (Dylan) Son of the Sea   (Gabriel) God is my strength

We didn't choose either name for the meaning.  Dylan was my favorite for a boy & Gabrield was DH's favorite.  The night before my induction, we tossed a few names around & finally DH said "How about Dylan Gabriel?".  We liked how it sounded!

#2 has no name yet, although I'm REEEEEEEALLY liking Aidan/Aiden Drake (we both liked Aiden last time & DH liked Drake).  I also like the meaning of both together "Little Fire Dragon".  Since it's the year of the Dragon, I think it's so cool!

  • Lillian Jane

    Lillian

Origin - Hebrew and English meaning: My God is a vow
    Origin  - Latin meaning: Lilies

    Jane

    Origin Hebrew: God is gracious

Both are family names (Lillian was my grandmother, and Jane is my MILs middle name) and we liked them and the nn Lilly, so we didn't look into the meanings.  I had to google them. :-)

  • Brendon Richard: Brendon meaning Prince, Richard meaning strong power.

Cecilia Marie: Cecilia meaning Blind, Marie meaning bitter.  Also a saint which I really liked about it. The patron saint of music and she loves to dance and sing :)

We did not pick names based on meaning at all. I really liked the name Brendon because I had heard it somewhere years before meeting DH. DH picked Cecilia's name. He liked that it could have a variety of nicknames. Her main nickname is Ciel(Seal). It has some kind of french meaning in there for sky which is perfect for her since her eyes are a beautiful blue.

Their middle names are for my FIL who passed away when my husband was a teenager and for my wonderful grandmother whose name I have always loved. Marie is also part of my confirmation name.

    Joshua (God Rescues) Bryant (Strong)

    Daughter:
Arianna (Very holy one) Marie (Bitter)

We didn't name them based on the meaning's of their names. We just loved the names :o)

  • FN Clara (clear, bright, famous)

    MN Hope...pretty obvious ;)

We didn't choose her FN based off the meaning, but I looked it up first too to make sure it wasn't something crazy. Her FN happens to be my great-great-grandmother's name but we chose it because my grandfather mentioned the name to us in a letter (he was talking about the family member) and it's the only girl name both Ian and I loved. We liked the meaning of her MN but the true meaning behind it is it's our favorite town in Alaska that has a lot of family ties.

  • Aiden-little fire

    James-supplanter

    Claire-clear, bright

    Anne-grace, favor

While meaning is important to us, it wasn't a deal breaker.  I wanted names that didn't have nicknames/shorter names. The middle names are family names...my middle name is Anne and DH's first name is James.

  • Garrett Nicolas

Garrett - derives from the names Gerard or Gerald, both containing the Germanic "gar" element, meaning "spear."

Nicolas - a variant of Nicholas (Greek), and the meaning of Nicolas is "people of victory.?

    Zachary Owen

Zachary - of Hebrew origin, and the meaning "the Lord recalled."

Owen - of Scottish and Greek origin, and meaning "born of yew; youth".

We did not pick the names based on meaning. They were names we both agreed with, which was not an easy task when choosing names.

  • Darcy = the dark one

We didn't know the meaning until after we picked it. DH picked it because he wanted an Irish name and it was the name of the original bassist for the smashing pumpkins, one of his favorite bands. I liked it because it isn't very common.
