DH just got orders to Yokosuka, Japan...we leave the end of March! We are thrilled that we've finally been given an overseas billet but of course have to continue our dream of having our first little one! We are currently in San Diego and I see an RE. All of my tests, blood work, etc. have come back normal and DH's SA came back with low motility results. I have only had a couple appointments with my RE and the next one is on Thursday when I plan to tell him about our upcoming move.
Has anyone else had experience with infertility and living overseas with the military? I am curious to see if the military will still be able to assist us with our issues while we are living over there. I know that DH will be on a forward deployed ship and will be gone a good deal of time. Is this basically something we will have to put on hold for the next three years until we can return back to the states?
Re: Our First Overseas PCS
I had a specialist in the states and we tried for almost 4 years. We decided to stop trying for awhile when we got orders to Guam, so I didn't look into it--- and a month after we got here, we got pregnant from our last round from the states.
As far as I know, Japan has a good Med Program so I think you should be okay. I would call the Tricare Regional Office for Japan to make sure though.
I did look in to it a little in Japan as we almost went there but ended up in San Diego as well... I also saw an RE out here, but I went through IVF, if your hubby has low motility then that may be where your headed as well. In japan you can have IVF done, its normally much less expensive, and the military will refer you to their clinic or out in town to have it done. Dont give up yet, if hubby cant be there they will freeze his "boys" and use them in a procedure called ICSI, which is where they inject one sperm in to one egg then put the egg back in to you. And if your ok doing it alone then DH does not even neev to be ther for more than the few mins it takes to "donate".
Dont give up hope yet, and DONT put it off for 3 years if you dont have to... Its taken us almost 5 to get where we are today, and I could not imagine taking a 3 year break in the middle. My hubby also has been on shipd for the last 6 years, so I know how hard it can be when your alone....
Good Luck!
Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!
Baby Dust To All!!!
